Last week, I met with leaders of the UK Jewish community for an open and candid conversation ahead of the Jewish New Year. I encountered a strong and proud community facing a deeply troubling rise in antisemitism and a challenging period in UK-Israel relations. Amid these difficulties, I heard just how deep their connection to Israel remains, and how profoundly they have shared in the country’s pain and concern since October 7. At this critical moment, we have a responsibility to strengthen the bonds between us, deepen connections among young people in Israel and the UK, reinforce resilience and solidarity, and continue building a partnership rooted in direct engagement, genuine listening, and mutual responsibility. The Jewish Agency will continue to stand with UK Jewry by supporting Aliyah, strengthening Jewish communities, and deepening the connection between Israel and the Jewish people worldwide.

Last night I spoke with Phil Rosenberg and Michael Wegier, the President and CEO of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. They shared with me their community’s response to the horrific terror attack in Manchester. I call them to share my pain, grief and sorrow. To virtually hug them and bless them for initiating the Trafalgar Square solidarity event for Israel. At the Jewish Agency, we will continue to stand with the community and support them through our shlichim and a wide range of programs. In addition, our JReady platform provides tools and resilience experts to assist the community. We all stand together, especially as we approach October 7, marking two years since the brutal terror attack, devastating war and a huge Antisemitism wave that reminded us, more than ever, that the Jewish people are one.
