This week's fluid mechanics seminar will be delivered by Dr. @NeginNazarian - find further information under: imperial.ac.uk/events/178234…
Happy to be at @EuroGeosciences the coming week – at Vienna, Austria
Little uDALES 2 0 demo of flow around Queens tower youtu.be/yz2CdGyMS-E?si=tvD7… via @YouTube
Over the last year we have improved the parallelisation of uDALES (practically ideal scaling >100k cores) and can now perform radiatively and wind-driven simulations of buildings with arbitrary orientations including openings. Watch this space!
uDALES: towards exa-scale simulation of air quality and microclimate in urban environments

Come work with me! PDRA position on urban heterogeneity now open that is part of the NERC highlight project ASSURE. imperial.ac.uk/jobs/descript…. @FluidsICL
How do sedimenting particles cluster in turbulent flows? New work (t.ly/nio6) in @SpringerNature, led by Vishnu Nair (now Cambridge) and Ben Devenish from the Met Office . @FluidsICL @ImperialCiveng @ukturbulence
Entrainment across TNTIs and TTIs -- new work out in @JFluidMech on the internal structure of turbulent fountains (t.ly/9XlL). First paper by Jingzi Hang. Also a first with the excellent @HenryBurridge! @FluidsICL @ImperialCiveng @ukturbulence
Have been neglecting to post about the papers that come out over the last six months. Will make up for this in the coming weeks (famous last words). – at Barnet, London

Jingzi Huang talking about his work on turbulent fountains at #EFMC14.
Great day at the UK fluids conference in Sheffield. Amazing to be reminded of the myriad of applications for which fluid flows are of relevance.
New work with @tom_grylls on the effect of trees on urban air quality (AQ). We show that the effectiveness of trees in mitigating AQ depends on whether the pollution source is inside or outside the street canyon. sciencedirect.com/science/ar… @ImperialCiveng @FluidsICL
