Someone once said, “It’s okay if you don’t respect me, but do not disrespect me.”
And I think that distinction is important. You cannot demand respect from everyone, but you can certainly establish boundaries around how you allow others to treat you.

I'm increasingly convinced that the willingness to change your mind is the ultimate sign of intelligence. The most impressive people I know change their minds often in response to new information. It's like a software update. The goal isn't to be right. It's to find the truth.

This is nuts. Abdul El-Sayed’s h-index on Google Scholar is 37 — higher than that of your average tenured professor at an Ivy League school.

The more I learn about Abdul El-Sayed, the more impressed I am. He has a medical degree from Columbia, a doctorate from Oxford, and a Google Scholar h-index of 37. That means dozens of his research papers have been cited extensively by other scientists. Whatever your politics, that’s an impressive academic résumé, especially for someone who also chose a career in public service.
