The Virtual Curate

Just listened to the first podcast from the Mariners Mirror @NauticalHistory sounds like its going to be absolutely brilliant.

Moles the vicarage Labrador awake and looking judgemental #NationalBlackDogDay

Just had the pleasure if meeting @raymond_blanc on the @belmond british pullman, what a lovely chap and an absolute delight to sample his cooking. 30 years of marriage celebrated in fine style. Any chance of the garlic purée recipe?

I hesitate to use the word ‘inspired’ but after some of @kejamieson_ tweets on her MA dissertation I am pleased to say I will soon be starting a second MA in @Naval_History at Portsmouth, a complete change of direction for me a medievalist and I am so looking forward to it

And it just gets harder

Life as the vicarage Labrador is sometimes just too exhausting

It seems an 88mm is not the only way to knock out a Sherman! @James1940 @WeHaveWaysPod

Once again with deep regret I am forced to refuse to marry a same sex couple in church. Once again I am forced to reflect on the institutionalised hypocrisy and homophobia of the church, once again I wonder what I’m doing here and how I’m going to explain my acquesance to God

Moles the vicarage Labrador focussed on the days news or my biscuit, I’m not sure which

Spent an hour reading the AHB publication Arnhem The Air Reconnaissance Story, doesn’t flatter Maj. Fuller (Urquhart) or many other intelligence units come to that, puts a different light on the film as well #WeHaveWays @James1940 @almurray

Ok, ready for social distancing. Rum restocked, neglected reading rediscovered, prayer reorganised #pussers

So, are we still charging couples a fee for a common licence that until a few days ago they didn’t need. Surely we should be waiving the fee for those who still need to get married? #cofe @ArchdeaconJulie

Mass celebrated this morning in a physically empty church, very odd feeling. Useful prayers from the CofE coronavirus resource page though. #eastmalling #CofE

Major rum disaster!

Wonderful joint service today at Larkfield and East Malling Methodist Church, led by Revd. Naomi Oates. Good to see St James, East Malling and Holy TrinityLarkfield joining with our Methodist brothers and sisters in worship #eastmalling #larkfield #weekinthediocese

The oldest of the vicarage labradors died today. She was with us for 12 years, trained the puppy and saved at least two of the human occupants of the vicarage from a nervous breakdown . To say I’m devastated is the biggest unerstatement of my life.
