Apple products always give some exceptional use cases
I turned my airpod case into a mouse and it works pretty well!

To push it further: Liquid Glass draws 2–3× the GPU power of the classic material - that's probably why Apple rarely uses it for whole windows: it's mostly transient ones like menus, popovers and 𝙽𝚂𝙰𝚕𝚎𝚛𝚝 (on macOS 27.2) - the cost scales with size of the component - unlike the regular blur material (.𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚎), there's no public way to keep it fully active when the window loses focus. Probably to prevent 3rd party app to drain battery too much TL;DR you probably don't want to use Liquid Glass for a window you open 100 times a day and that overlays dynamic content
the blur isn't fake the lack of glass isn't a limitation raycast windows are native macos windows, including the ones from the menu bar we already use liquid glass for buttons, selects, action panels and popovers. we could use it for the main window too i spent a while looking at this with @benoitgrelard this morning. we tested a bunch of options, including liquid glass on the main window and letting you adjust the glass through the os settings liquid glass is a lot more see-through. our theme layer adds a bit of colour on top of the native blur, which is what keeps it readable glass looks "lovely" over a black and white wallpaper, but raycast has to stay readable over whatever you've got open we still think our treatment works best for an app ppl use hundreds, if not thousands, of times a day at the end of the day it's a balance between function and aesthetics, and i think we've found a pretty good one

I've built a TUI app to manage types of installed packages, security checks, and ways to understand and get new updates. github.com/vuon9/kho So far, I've added support for: homebrew, pipx, uv, go, mise, npm, composer and agent SKILLS. More will come, it's totally free.

Call an ambulance for Windows Terminal
our goal for Rex clients from the start was to build the most magical terminal app and to make it feel native on every platform. to me that doesn’t mean porting the same UI around. it means embracing the norms and quirks of each platform, so the app feels at home on your system rather than a guest that calls attention to itself. we’re about two weeks away from inviting the first wave of alpha users to Rex for Windows. it’s a fully reimagined version of our Mac app that still keeps the feel that makes the Mac app special. it’s crazy fast, the UI is entirely gpu-driven, and just like on Mac, it works as both server and client. here's a little video of me demonstrating some of the basics. I'll stress that this is pre-alpha right now, there is a lot to polish and port still, but I'm very excited about putting this in the hands of users soon.

Bitfinex Hacker on Binance Hack: North Korean Hackers Target the Weakest Links Bitfinex hacker Ilya Lichtenstein @cipherstein told CNN on November 1 that the Binance hack resembled North Korean tactics targeting weak links. Attackers may phish employees into downloading malware instead of breaching exchange websites. He called the first 48 hours crucial for tracing stolen funds. AI agents speed transfers, but blockchain records remain traceable years later. Lichtenstein stole about 120,000 BTC from Bitfinex in 2016. He and his wife pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy in 2023. Sentenced to five years in 2024, he was released early in January 2026 and now says he works as a white-hat hacker.

My new favorite harness + Pi for personal stuff which are not "too talkative" and so good at showing honesty.

Kevin Hart had a shot at Uber for $50,000 to $75,000. He passed because it sounded “like murderville.” Uber went public at $82 billion. Mark Cuban passed too, and he knew the founder. In the video below, Hart and Cuban take turns telling how each of them missed Uber. Music executive Troy Carter pitched it to Hart. There’s an app. You need a ride, and a stranger nearby comes and picks you up. “Sounds like murderville to me,” Hart told him. “I don’t know that person. I ain’t picking them up.” Years earlier, Cuban had rescued Travis Kalanick’s first company when it was running out of money. Then Kalanick came to him with something called UberCab, at a $10 million valuation. Cuban loved it. “I’ll do it at $5 million,” he said. Kalanick found someone else and never came back. In fairness to both men: in 2010, getting into a stranger’s car did sound insane. And Cuban’s warning was right. He told Kalanick the taxi commissions would fight to put him out of business. They did, and Uber didn’t post a full year of operating profit until 2023. Cuban was right about everything except the ending. He shrugs it off. “I’ve done okay.” Hart can’t. “Until this day, I think about it,” he says. “I kind of avoid seeing Troy Carter.” On the Street, the deal that sounds stupid in the room is the only one nobody else is bidding on. Would you have put $75,000 into riding with strangers in 2010, or said what Kevin Hart said?

I recreated subvocal in 9 minutes with one prompt for AirPods Pro 3. Source: github.com/joeblau/subvox
We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again. Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard. It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min. Pre-orders are now live at: subvocal.co/preorder?utm_sou…

1/ Maybe the bigger lesson in the Binance hack wasn't abt Binance or their key management. Its about how fast the money was moved that left Binance no time to react. Onchain, a $100m transfer settles as fast as a $10 one. $6b left hot wallets in ~20 mins. This should change.
