Sun Life had a sun with rays and a globe. Sunlife now has a yellow circle.
A brand literally named after light just removed the light. The rays were the warmth. The globe was the story.
Simplify the shape, never the soul.
Every big rebrand now optimizes for the favicon and forgets the feeling.
The excuse is always "optimized for digital." Screens render character just fine. We choose not to.
When every logo is built to survive a favicon, none of them survive in your memory.
Simplify the shape, never the soul.
Are brands designing for people or for app icons?
Everyone's building products for AI agents now. Almost nobody is designing for them.
An agent can't squint at a vague number or guess what a broken command meant. It just fails, and your user blames you.
@meow just raised a $31.6M Series B led by @Stifel with @archetypevc to build a bank for agents. @brandon, I went through the site and the agent flow. 8 fixes.
WEBSITE
1. "By the numbers" has no numbers
Now: "Meow Technologies by the numbers", then "$ Billions", "$ Billions", "Thousands". That's the whole section.
Why it hurts: in banking, a word where a figure should be reads as hiding something.
Fix: if the exact figure can't go public, round down to a floor you can defend. Saw this at Real Vision 2.0: people trusted one real number over a big vague word. Any digit beats a word.
2. The yield line hedges twice
Now: the hero says "Earn up to" a range (3.73 to 3.97% today). The $100,000 minimum that decides if you qualify sits in 11px fine print under the button.
Why it hurts: "up to" plus a range is two hedges, and the condition is the smallest text on the screen.
Fix: one number with the condition in the same line, like "3.97% on balances over $100k". At Methlab the condition sat right next to the yield, never under it.
3. Three card issuers, no explanation
Now: the hero says the Meow Card is issued by Cross River Bank. Lower on the homepage the Meow Commercial Card is issued by Community Federal Savings Bank. /cards says Lead Bank.
Why it hurts: these may be three real products, but nothing says which card is which, so on a bank site it reads as a mistake.
Fix: one small card table with card name, issuer and who it's for. At HumanAPI all trust copy came from one source, so it never contradicted itself.
4. The treasury fee is written two ways
Now: /treasury says "1 basis point per month annualized". The FAQ on the same page says "0.01% per month".
Why it hurts: a reader can't tell if that is 0.01% or 0.12% a year, and fees are where a money product earns or loses trust.
Fix: state the yearly number once, the same way in both places, then say how it's billed. At Real Vision 2.0 every price went out in one format across the product.
5. On mobile the legal block outweighs the pitch
Now: on a 390px phone the pitch under the headline is 5 lines. Under the only button sits a 14 line block of 11px legal text, the first of 6 "not a bank" lines on the homepage.
Why it hurts: the screen where someone decides reads like a warning label.
Fix: one plain line by the button with the full disclosure a tap away. At Eclipse we kept the one required line near the action and moved the rest behind a link.
PRODUCT
6. The agent onboarding breaks on step one
Now: /mcp has you paste a prompt that sends your agent to meow.com/skills.md. That file says "Start with meow start". On the published CLI (@joinmeow/cli 0.0.26, checked today) meow start returns "error: unknown command 'start'". The real entry is meow onboarding start.
Why it hurts: this is the feature on the homepage banner and in the raise story. An agent that errors on the first step either guesses or gives up.
Fix: change the line, then run every command in skills.md against the latest CLI on each release. At HumanAPI the first step of onboarding got more testing than any screen after it.
7. The skill describes a CLI that doesn't exist
Now: the skills.md table lists pay, card, invoice, upload and confirm. In the CLI, meow pay just prints the general help; the real tools are create-ach-transfer, create-wire-transfer, create-card, create-invoice. The create-card help also gives two caps for the same limit field: $1,000 per card, and a few lines later $25,000.
Why it hurts: agents follow the doc literally. A wrong command name or a wrong cap turns into a failed payment or a confused founder.
Fix: generate skills.md from the CLI's own command list so the two can't drift, and pick one cap per context in plain words.
8. Two ways in for one account
Now: skills.md says "No passwords are used", sign in is an email code. app.meow.com/signup asks for an email and a password. And its Sign up button is blue while every Get Started on meow.com is orange.
Why it hurts: someone who starts in Claude and later opens the web app doesn't know which way in is theirs, and the jump from site to app feels like a different company.
Fix: one sign in method on both surfaces (email code, Google as the option) and the same orange button from site to app.
None of this needs a rebrand. Most of it is copy, one table and one release check. Happy to share the full notes.
We’re pleased to announce @Meow has accepted a $31.6M Series B led by @Stifel with participation from @archetypevc. That brings our total funding to over $60M.
This is a strategic investment and a partnership. Stifel will offer a white-label version of Meow’s platform to its commercial banking clients, starting with venture and fund banking.
Game on.
Fintechs are becoming banks. They’re going after charters and showing up with better technology than the banks they compete against.
Banks can spend years trying to build that technology, or they can run on a platform that already wins.
Meow proves it. We compete for startups, the most competitive and demanding banking market in the world, and we go head to head on product. We have billions of assets on the platform, billions in annualized payment volume, and millions in annualized profits at scale and in the market every day.
Most software sold to banks has never had to win a customer on its own. Ours competes for the most demanding customers every day. It’s proven. That’s why Stifel entrusted Meow with this deal and opportunity.
Now, we’re launching the ability for banks to have the entire Meow platform under their own brand:
→ onboardings
→ bill pay
→ expense management
→ invoicing
→ agentic compliance and backoffice
→ stablecoins
→ everything else
And it never falls behind. Every feature our customers push us to build ships to our bank customers too.
We anticipate Stifel’s venture and fund banking clients get all of it starting early 2027.
Meow will allow every bank to be able to compete with the industry leading fintechs. This will change the game for banks and is only the beginning. Now, back to work.
"Average credit back: $15,000."
That's not an average. It's the ceiling. 2% of a $750k home.
When your whole pitch is "we save you money," every number on the page is the product.

A company built to fight hidden fees has "No Hidden Fees" in its homepage headline.
The fee is 15% to 40%. It's not on the homepage. It's grey 14px text under a popup button.

What a week it’s been in Singapore at @TOKEN2049!
Here’s what we’ve done: Placed 2nd out of 1,200 startups in one of crypto’s biggest startup competitions, went on a roller coaster with @_jhunsaker, co-founder of @monad and @category_xyz, announced our $3.5M raise to hundreds of people IRL and thousands more online, and met so many incredible founders and people across the industry.
Now it’s back to the States to continue my comedy tour, perform in front of 20,000+ students this year, scale @CRSHMARKET to 1M users, and become one of the biggest names in the industry. Very blessed. Just getting started.
Most startups don't have a traffic problem.
They have a first-screen problem.
@walapay_io just raised a $4.6M seed to move money in 180+ countries. Their homepage doesn't say that. I went through it as a founding designer. 3 fixes:
