Excerpt from They Died Waiting written by Lisa I will never forget reading the words in Caroline’s first book where she spoke about Tim and others leading ‘whispered lives’. I felt seen and immensely sad. My throat filled with unfallen tears and the countless words I’d never been able to speak. My body told the story with desperate acts of self harm and suicide attempts. Voices and visions no one else could see or hear. It’s a very lonely place. Caroline’s words also brought renewed hope and determination in my own work. I was reminded that others who I’ve met on the journey, do understand the heart of the matter. Because only the heart can brave the darkness and unknown and see with kindness. This is a part of who I am. Someone who went into mh services at the age of 14 and has yet to leave
