Good afternoon. Good to get out, into the real world. Sceptical Scot enjoys a walk with Charlie Ellis and new look at Glasgow – a brighter view, not rose-tinted but definitely brighter.

I am extremely disappointed at the inappropriate, plan to build a ten-storey student flat block on the former ABC site, in front of Glasgow's crowning architectural jewel, the Glasgow School of Art.
I am asking for the refusal of this application and urging for a revised design of reduced height that respects the architecture of Sauchiehall Street.
You can read my full statement of my reasons for objecting below.

Sauchiehall Street is to be #Glasgow’s new Culture and Heritage District so at the pre-application consultations I urged @vitastudent to go and talk to @HeritageFundSCO and @glasgowlife about assisting retention of this symbol of Glasgow’s cinema heritage. Did they do this…🤔🤷♂️?

#MomentsOfBeauty in #Glasgow: Let’s start the day with a great #Glasgow Corner - the RW Forsyth Department Store on Gordon & Renfield Streets. Originally by Boucher & Cousland before being remodelled with a corner dome by Sir JJ Burnet. More info here 🎧😊 walkingheads.net/glasgowcorn… – at Glasgow, Scotland

ALT Seen in the early morning sunlight, this is the former RW Forsyth Department Store which occupies the north west corner of the junction of Gordon and Renfield Streets in the Glasgow Central Conservation Area. Originally a warehouse by mid Victorian architects Boucher & Cousland, it was remodelled in the 1890s with Sir John James Burnet carving out an imposing new dome and corner entrance. Sadly, the sandstone has been painted.
