Growing up in rural West Virginia was not always easy, but it has shaped who I am. I was proud to take my dear friend @vladduthiersCBS home, on those country roads:
Next year, @weijia will be the first woman of color to serve as President of @whca. But her story begins in an unexpected small town — and she took @vladduthiersCBS back home to share the emotional journey to reaching her dreams.

The White House Correspondents' Association strongly objects to the decision to restrict a journalist’s coverage simply because the president didn’t care for their questioning. That is retaliation. The American public's right to an independent press depends on reporters being able to do their jobs without fear that challenging the president will cut off their access. - Jacqui Heinrich, WHCA President

Seen a lot of Nathan For You clips shared around the last few days but haven't yet seen anyone repost the pinnacle of the televisual medium that is Nathan Fielder as Captain Sully landing in the Hudson River as Bring Me to Life by Evanescence plays

Amid the cinephiles' lofty debates about truth and art, it's worth listening to @TylerShultz_'s take on the film and on Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Holmes is “almost unrecognizable” in Nathan Fielder’s documentary, “You Can See Everything,” to Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz: “The woman that I saw on screen looked, frankly, like a broken woman.” Shultz tells @gayleking and @norahodonnell about his reaction to the film, speaking out about Theranos in 2015 and why the documentary is garnering sympathy for Holmes, who is serving a more than 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors: “She is not playing victim. She is an actual victim.”

When I was First Gentleman of the White House Correspondents’ Association, I unsuccessfully lobbied @weijia to invite @nathanfielder to be the dinner entertainer. @JacquiHeinrich, you can make this dream a reality.

The children killed today were 5, 8 and 11, according to local authorities. A horrible tragedy.
At least three children and one adult are dead after a shooting at an elementary school in Oregon, federal law enforcement sources tell CBS News. Those sources identified the alleged shooter as a 16-year-old and said he was killed by a civilian. CBS News’ @camiloreports reports that the shooting could’ve been deadlier had a civilian not intervened and killed the alleged shooter.

Eric Deters has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kimberly Guilfoyle for disputing his claims that she asked him to pay off her $100K AMEX bill for political favors. He says, “I possess a solid grasp of Greek mythology. Kim’s Greek goddess match is Apate, goddess of deceit.”

What’s really stunning about this is the level of confidence Andy Harris projects for something he’s completely wrong about.
Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Trump administration officials are leaning against livestreaming the execution of the ex-Army major convicted of the killing of 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, sources familiar with the discussions said. Many Americans and politicians on both sides of the aisle have opposed the idea since Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth announced the plan last week. CBS News' @weijia Jiang has the latest. cbsn.ws/4hVRdvR

Eric Deters told me in an interview that he warned Susie Wiles, Ambassador Guilfoyle, and Don Jr. last week that he would share this incident with reporters if they didn’t help him with an extradition to help his clients.
Businessman Eric Deters claims Kimberly Guilfoyle, now the U.S. ambassador to Greece and ex-fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., asked him to wire $100,000 to pay her American Express bill in exchange for her help with the Trump administration ahead of Guilfoyle's Senate confirmation hearing. @weijia reports. cbsn.ws/3TIMxle
