A 44px button was failing my mobile tests because Playwright measured it at 43px.
The culprit?
A tiny CSS animation.
:active { transform: scale(0.98) }
44 × 0.98 = 43.12px.
The test was measuring the button while the press animation was still active.
We fixed the test interaction instead of redesigning the button.
A failing test can be measuring something correctly and still lead you toward the wrong fix.
That's why I never blindly trust a red OR green test.
