Zaslav doesn’t care about TCM. He doesn’t care about films or history or Martin Scorsese. He doesn’t care about actually making anything good. He care about the stock price. He cares about the dollar. That is his god. “The world is a business, Mr. Beale.”

I’ve discovered that the opening to Risky Business fits The Shining perfectly. I call it Shiny Business. Not sure what to do with this information but maybe @gourleyandrust can tackle it during their Shining season? @paulrust @MattGourley
Paramount Pictures has preemptively acquired a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 classic psychological thriller #Vertigo, a possible starring vehicle for Robert Downey Jr. bit.ly/3LMd6j8
This is the best written review of Babylon I’ve read, covering all of the many things wrong with it in no uncertain terms. This paragraph in particular is 100% accurate.
"The film might hold together as an epic, nasty joke at the expense of anyone who has ever rhapsodized about cinema, but its muddled grandiosity seems all too sincere."

Remembering the great Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 – February 2, 2014)
Not a day goes by that we don't think of him.
I think even Paul Thomas Anderson would laugh at the idea that Magnolia makes the list of 250 greatest films and Short Cuts does not. I like Magnolia but come on.
Triangle of Sadness being nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, but not Best International Feature Film is very confusing to me!
This movie had me in a vice grip. One of the most engrossing films I’ve seen in recent memory.
One of director Jerzy Skolimowski’s most acclaimed films, MOONLIGHTING (1982)—starring a brilliant Jeremy Irons—is a cunningly observed, darkly funny look at displacement and the everyday effects of political repression. criterionchannel.com/moonlig…
Feel like Along Came Polly should be better remembered. Outstanding performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman. Just a fun watch all around. Would love to hear @BenStiller discuss what it was like to work with Hoffman.
The best version of the multiple-stories-crisscrossing-with-a-huge-cast-of-known-actors movie. A true masterpiece worth watching if you’ve never seen it!

Paul Schrader’s directorial debut features searing performances by comic great Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel, and Yaphet Kotto. A work of remarkable power, this gritty, darkly comic look at working-class rage is one of the great American films of the 1970s.
