World War 3 isn’t starting; it’s just that the veil that covered the perpetual state of war fostered by the West against communism, against Global South liberation, and for oil and mineral resources has been ripped away. We see now that the world as we know it IS war.

Is this the new LARP? American politicians flying to the West Bank to cosplay as defenders of Palestinians while supporting the very institutions that make settler violence possible in the first place? Brad Lander, we didn’t need you to fly to Palestine and get into a scuffle with settlers to prove you’re an ally. We needed you to stop investing our money in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, while it profited from the genocide of our people. We needed you to stop proudly identifying as a Zionist while condemning Palestinian resistance. Palestinians don’t need your performative solidarity. We need you to stop supporting our oppressors. And those who stand with Palestine cannot allow these gestures to buy our trust, erase politicians’ records, or earn them our votes. A photo op in the West Bank does not absolve anyone of their complicity. Our standards for solidarity with Palestinian liberation cannot be lowered just because politicians have learned how to perform it.
I'm in the West Bank this week as part of the “Protect the Harvest” coalition along with @israelispeaceny, @ucpinpalestine & Protect the Harvest, which is bringing people together from around the world to help Palestinian farmers harvest olives in the face of state-sanctioned settler terrorism. Our goals for the trip are to help protect the olive harvest — and to shed a light on the reality of the occupation. To ensure that international solidarity goes beyond the harvest, to become a sustained commitment to protecting Palestinian communities from settler violence, forced displacement, and the ongoing threats to their right to remain on their land. And, speedily and in our day, to secure human rights, safety, equality & freedom for both Palestinians and Israelis. Thankfully, our corner of today's harvest was peaceful and successful. But violence unfortunately is never far away. We’ll keep you posted on our efforts this week, especially the stories we hear from Palestinians on the ground. Protect the Harvest.

Because we live in a completely disgusting and unjust world, half a million Palestinians in Gaza are about to lose monthly food assistance via the WFP due to a lack of funding, which makes Palestinian-run projects like this even more essential. Please please keep donating
Tomorrow, we will once again distribute meals to displaced people in Gaza. The food will reach 150 of the poorest and most vulnerable families. Children deserve to have food to eat, just like children everywhere else in the world. Your donations make a difference. Please, contribute and help us make this possible: chuffed.org/project/172937-d…

It's true that men usually prefer books by men, but that preference isn't biological, it's sociological. At the end of the day, it's believed that women write about women's feelings and men write about the human condition.

I visit women’s prisons all over the country and have to plan VERY carefully everything from my underwear to my perfume (which is often banned and I had to stop using fabric softener) to my jewelry (if at all) to the color clothes or type of fabric I can wear to my shoes. It’s all an exercise in futility for many families who cant afford the cost of keeping up with something that changes at every facility

Frankly, this is how moving the Overton window is supposed to work and why it's imperative for the left to pressure left electeds, despite what DSA rightists/Progs say. If Mamdani becomes "the consensus center" then you've just moved the Dem party leftward. That's the point.

I’ve been planning for months to apply for a Paris-based artist residency with a project focused on a French law passed earlier this year to begin restitution of colonial artifacts, examined against the exit of the Alliance of Sahel States from French economic monopolies 1/

With the current situation, I have a lot of doubt that any of this will be picked for funding, but I hope that I will get to do the work somehow anyway, because I’ve never seen the interests and demands of the people of the imperial core and periphery align as they are now. 3/

That kind of mutual recognition and political solidarity is what poses a real threat to capital. As long as the people of the imperial core and the periphery see their liberation as separate, the ruling class will maintain power over both.

Y’all remember when Israel bombed Church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza, 1 of the oldest churches in the world, w a history dating back to the 5th century? Palestinians, including children, were sheltering there. At least 18 were killed. Spare us the fake outrage, baby killers
FRANCE: Rioters have set fire to the historic City Hall in Limoges, France, causing its roof to burn and its clock tower to collapse. Built in 1883, the 143 year old landmark survived 2 world wars and was designated a protected historical monument in 1975. It’s gone now.

Marseille is the war economy collapsing in real time. Tear gas for the people, bailouts for the banks, the Epstein class collecting on both ends. Overthrow financial speculation with a sovereign development program that puts production and infrastructure ahead of the bondholders.

Pretty funny to see everyone blame this (rightly condemned, to be clear) on whatever their political bogeyman is: I've just seen people say that this is because of, take your pick, "communism," "Islamism," "third worldism," "Russia," and "China". As if France needed any outside help to riot... Maybe some people need to brush up on our history, or read Victor Hugo's "Les Misérables"... This isn't to romanticize the rioters in the least. A reminder that in Les Misérables there's the figure of Thénardier, a horrendous scoundrel who exploits the chaos around him, robbing corpses and fleecing anyone he can. Every chaotic moment in French history has its share of Thénardiers, and this one is no exception. It's just too easy, and actually useful to those in power, to blame this on outside forces. At the end of the day, this anger was made in France, is happening in France, and can only be solved in France. And, as painful as it is to hear, if one studies history, this is pretty much exactly what's expected at the stage France is at. People have studied this. Whether you take Ray Dalio’s six-stage cycle theory, Peter Turchin’s "elite overproduction" thesis or the Chinese dynastic cycle framework, they all come to the same conclusion: when debt piles up, public services crumble and those in power become incapable, the streets eventually explode. In fact it's almost eerie how France ticks almost every box of most cycle theories: - Fiscal distress (debt is 119% of GDP and we now pay more to borrow than Italy or Greece), - Crumbling public services: a reminder that these protests (now turning into riots) started with high school students protesting over the state of education - Political paralysis and a legitimacy crisis (Macron has an insane 82% disapproval rate, he's definitely lost the Mandate of Heaven...) - Popular immiseration with a record poverty rate at 15.4% and a median wage at only €2,190 net per month for a full-time private sector employee (you can't even afford to rent a decent flat in any major French city with this) "Third worldism" or "Islamism" isn't the cause of any of this: French governments didn't borrow like there's no tomorrow (the last balanced budget dates back to 1974!) because the "Muslim Brotherhood" told them to, and it wasn’t Putin or Xi who left French classrooms without teachers... Sadly the reactions - scapegoating - are ALSO typical of this stage of the cycle: Dalio lists among the classic markers of Stage 5 the emergence of "scapegoat classes who are commonly believed to be the source of the problems" (linkedin.com/pulse/delving-s…), alongside a "loss of truth in the public domain," with people more interested in hunting for culprits than looking for solutions. So what is the solution? Well, the way the Chinese dealt with it was basically a reset - regime-changing themselves with a new dynasty claiming the Mandate of Heaven, usually after decades of rebellion and war. Not exactly a hopeful prospect... There is also the exception where a dynasty managed what the Chinese call a 中兴 (zhōngxīng, "restoration"): profound reform from within before the whole house came down. It succeeded a few times (e.g. the Tongzhi restoration during the Qing dynasty) but usually could only buy a few more decades, rarely more. In 1945, the writer Huang Yanpei famously asked Mao how to break free of the cycle (cn.vlex.com/vid/constitution…), framing it in those terms: "People are careful and hard-working at first, for bold measures are the only possible ways to break through difficult conditions. But when things gradually get better, people begin slacking off: laziness may spread through a long history and is impossible to be corrected when it becomes a common practice. Gradually expanded territory requires corresponding increases in talent, but when the latter is insufficient, the central control will become weak. In a word, no one can escape the 'vicious cycle' of dynastic rise and collapse." Mao replied that democracy was the answer, because "as long as the people can supervise the government, the government dare not slacken." And Xi later added a "second answer" (chinadailyhk.com/hk/article/…): a system capable of "resolute self-reform". The jury is still out on whether China has broken the cycle, but if France has any hope of escaping it, it will need both answers at once: a government that truly answers to its people, and very resolute self-reform. One thing the answer definitely isn’t: turning on each other. In all these cycle theories, division and scapegoating appear on the way down, never on the way back up.
