Asked whether Ireland should introduce language tests for citizenship, Tánaiste Simon Harris says Irish citizenship should be a "cherished gift", and that "language is an important part of integration". "I do think there is some merit in considering language proficiency."

I raised the issue of the closure of the midwife led community clinics in Limerick directly with the Minister for Health in the Dáil. Without any notice to anybody, the HSE has pre-emptively decided to terminate that service, allegedly because of a shortage of staff:

The new Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit, which we introduced in March, is available to those who lose their job and meet the eligibility conditions. This scheme provides a maximum weekly payment of €450 which will help people during this period of uncertainty.
