You know what's an awkward Senate delegation? One in which both are Democrats in a red-leaning state, were both first elected in the same year, and are both touted as 2028 presidential contenders I'm looking at you, Georgia!
If Sherrod Brown manages to defeat Jon Husted, Ohio will have the most awkward Senate delegation in Congress - Brown would have to serve w/ Moreno, who defeated him in 2024 - Brown would have to run again for a six-year term. Moreno's job will be to beat Brown: He's on track to chair NRSC for 2028 cycle - Moreno and Brown never talked after the 2024 election. They also didn't debate Moreno told Semafor that the theoretical matchup “won’t happen,” predicting that incumbent GOP Sen. Husted will win. But he joked it would be “tempting” to defeat Brown again: “Sherrod Brown should just get a job" semafor.com/article/10/20/20…

Hot take: Turning this woman, running for a low-level office in Indiana, into an internet punching bag is unseemly and gross
Watch this to the end, you won’t regret it. This is what happens when you’re at happy hour and are reminded you agreed to do an interview about your race.

This is still the most perfect thing. Karen Bass wanted to be like Zohran Mamdani, the pothole fixer. So she posted a video of herself going to a pothole and finding a parked car that prevented it from being fixed. So she put out a No Parking sign and went to get a hamburger.
Simone Boyce we got you! Spot a pothole on your street? Send it our way. Report it to 311, through the MyLA311 app or at lacity.gov/myla311.

What did y'all think the Nixon revival meant? Vibes? Papers? Essays?
Per the latest CBS/YouGov poll, a majority of *Republicans* approve of government price controls.

.@WillRahn and I went Nixonmaxxing yesterday... peep the Watergate Hotel ashtray, Nixonette paper bag dress, Nixon posters, and more easter eggs!
Get in, boys. We're Nixonmaxxing. Why is Gen Z suddenly obsessed with our 37th president—the man who resigned in disgrace over Watergate? Mostly, it's a vibe. @WillRahn breaks down the Nixon fascination that's become this summer's biggest trend. Read his piece here: thefp.com/p/nixonmaxxing-van…

Just get a Casio. I wear one. Mamdani wears one. They keep perfect time and cost like 40 bucks
Kevin O’Leary says he begged Rolex for a mythical $1.8 million watch, then cried when the box opened “It is the grail piece of all watches. It is the white gold, ruby and diamond Daytona. Grown men weep just looking at pictures of this mystical beast” “I got on my knees and begged for it. The morning before the Oscars, the phone rings. They gave me an address and said, ‘Be there’” “The entire Rolex staff had never seen it. For an hour, we looked at it. We didn’t touch it. I was weeping. Walking around with $35 million”

This is Dr. Strangelove logic—"they'll nuke it, we have to do it first"—in an attempt to pass legislation that would probably still fail without the filibuster. Do you think Curtis, Collins, Murkowski, and McConnell are going to vote for SAVE?
Replying to @willrahn
It’s abject madness to think this generation of Democrats won’t nuke the filibuster the first chance they get. I think anyone willing to take that chance is a fool.

They're not going to abolish the Senate anytime soon. But abolishing the filibuster would make it a hell of a lot easier to pass Medicare for All, legalize abortion nationwide, etc etc Party in power always wants to nuke the filibuster, other party says no, it's an amnesia loop
Can’t disagree with any of this. I mean, Democrats are calling to abolish the senate.

Sonny is wrong! And the fact that everybody is raving about "Widow's Bay" just shows how far our expectations of prestige TV have fallen in the last decade. The cast is exceptional—Matthew Rhys! Stephen Root! The show itself? Kinda meh!
I argued to @petersuderman and @AlyssaRosenberg that the first season of "Widow's Bay" is as good as (or better than!) the first seasons of The X-Files, Lost, Buffy, etc. Alyssa hesitated on the Buffy question, but in her heart, she knows I'm right. movieaisle.substack.com/p/wi…
