I came home from a Microsoft dinner with a Surface Laptop Ultra in a metal briefcase. Consider me a Windows woman now. 128GB of unified memory has me curious about the future of private, local AI. Here’s the unboxing and my first look. It's going for ~$6k.

Set up OpenClaw out of the box on the new @nvidia RTX Spark laptops. Choose a local model or connect a cloud provider, and follow the guided setup without opening a terminal. Thanks to the NVIDIA and @Microsoft teams who worked with us on this. nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/n…

An update for builders using Codex on Windows: We’ve built a new sandbox mode using @Microsoft’s Execution Containers (MXC) for faster setup, stronger network enforcement, and granular file access controls. Requires a compatible Windows 11 device.
Today, we announced new @Windows platform capabilities and @surface devices built to empower people and organizations for the era of hybrid intelligence. Here are some of the highlights: - It all starts with trust. Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) is now generally available on Windows 11, keeping agents contained within boundaries the operating system enforces. - HydraFusion brings hybrid intelligence to life, allowing models to run locally while seamlessly accessing the cloud when more scale or capability is needed. We're working with @github to extend HydraFusion to Windows. - This fall, Search on the taskbar adds thousands of quick actions, making it easier to adjust settings and get things done as fast as you can type. - @MSFTCopilot is getting more powerful on Windows. With hybrid intelligence, it can tap into your PC's local capabilities and turn your requests into action, while keeping you in control. - Local agents are coming to Windows too. Muse is on its way as a native Windows app with MXC integration, and Hermes, OpenClaw, and Perplexity are already building local experiences on Windows. - Surface Laptop Ultra, built with NVIDIA RTX Spark, is the most powerful Surface we've ever built. It's available for pre-order today, along with the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box and new RTX Spark PCs from our partners. Call of Duty is coming to RTX Spark in 2027. Today marks a new chapter for Windows, as we bring unmetered intelligence to every desk and every home, and make every PC a place where agents can work securely on your behalf. Some highlights of what we announced: • MAI-Code-1.1 Flash: 137B parameter coding model w/ 256K context window, which is now optimized to run on your PC! • GitHub Copilot now hands off work to local models like MAI-Code-1.1 Flash, helping projects cost a lot less without sacrificing quality. • With Hybrid Intelligence, Copilot can now take action directly on the PC and keep sensitive work on your device. • And with Code in Copilot, you can essentially build any software you need on your desktop, without any cloud token spend, and it’s just super at it. You’re no longer limited to what’s in an app store! Your PC becomes an infinite software factory. • Security is foundational to all this, which is why we are also bringing together Windows and Agent 365 so agents can work within secure boundaries on-device, including MXC a local sandbox for agent execution. Windows becomes your secure agent box! • All this comes to life on a new generation of devices, like Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark. Can’t wait to see what you build with all this.

A look into how the Windows team is integrating AI into their OS: eg they're adding agent identities, akin to that of a user. It's the first opinionated approach I see for AI agents at the OS level - and surely other OSes will do sg similar. Deepdive: newsletter.pragmaticengineer…
