Thrilled to share the news that my edited volume “Empire Criticism of the New Testament: New Approaches” has ranked #1 among @mohrsiebeck's most accessed theology eBooks of 2025 ... and #2 across their entire eBook program - and that despite being published only in October!
I’m genuinely proud of this collaborative project, which brings together new approaches to rethink how we analyse early Christian texts in relation to Roman ideology and imperial discourse.
If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can access it here (it’s OPEN ACCESS):

ALT Quote: “The gospel depicts Jesus recapitulating biblical Israel, but not to present him as a new and righteous Israel to replace the old, sinful one. On the contrary, Matthew explicates that Jesus will save his people by offering his life as a ‘ransom in exchange for many’ (20:28).” —Nicholas J. Schaser
