Slightly belated happy 92nd bday to my pal Roldo Bartimole. Chicago Tribune once called him "the conscience of Cleveland" & Pulitzer-winner David Cay Johnston dubbed him "Cleveland's I.F. Stone clone." But for half my life he's been a constant source of stimulating conversation.

Yeah, no, sorry - that's not how an actual democracy works.
Tuesday’s midterm elections will determine who controls Congress, and if the races are too close to call, it could be members of Congress themselves who get the final say in who won. ktvu.com/news/who-has-final-…
Maybe serious people should just ignore any "reporting" from Fox News.
I obtained the audio of yesterday's CBS all-staff editorial meeting where the Dan Sullivan/Dan Sullivan story was discussed. In contrast to the Fox story's characterization (shared below), I didn't detect any tension or hear staffers clashing or disagreeing with Bari Weiss. Sounded like a standard editorial discussion...
Freaking weirdo. Why is his obnoxious, sleazy second wife entitled to his billions but not his direct blood offspring?
🚨 Jeff Bezos reportedly opens up on his proposed inheritance plans:
“Honestly, about 30% of my wealth will go to charity, while my wife, Lauren, will get the rest and can do whatever she wants with it. My children won’t inherit my billions because I believe the greatest gift I can ever give them is a proper education, and that’s one thing I’ll make sure they get. I don’t want them growing up believing they’re entitled to my money just because they’re my children.”
Adults work backward from their available budget. If you can't really afford that apartment, why did you sign a lease? Live within your means.
Grow up.
BOOMER: “Nobody wants to work anymore.”
ME: “The warehouse is hiring at $19 an hour.”
BOOMER: “That’s decent money.”
ME: “Rent is $2,400.”
BOOMER: “Get a roommate. Work weekends. Stop being picky.”
Notice how every solution somehow means the worker has to sacrifice more.
Lower your standards. Share a bedroom. Give up your weekends. Work overtime. Stay broke a little longer.
But somehow the idea that a full time job should actually pay enough to live on never makes the list.
Then obviously you need to add a partime job/side gig or do something about that rent.
Stop telling people drowning in bills that they just need to OPTIMIZE their budget. I truly don't understand.
if my net take-home pay is $3,100 a month... and rent is $1,650, utilities are $280, car insurance is $190, gas to get to work is $220, student loan minimum is $310, and groceries for the month are $350...
that leaves $60. sixty dollars for the entire month to cover clothes, medical co-pays, household supplies, and unexpected emergencies.
what exactly is there left to 'cut back' on? at a certain point, it isn't a spending problem.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this team is going nowhere with Kenny Atkinson as their head coach.

God forbid he pass the ball in these types of situations. He had the entire Hawks team on him in the corner and he took the shot instead of passing to literally any one of his wide open teammates
I hope someone in that locker room calls him out on this man

Can I pay a monthly fee to never have to see or hear anything about Pat McAfee ever again
We’re losing the ability to own anything. Music, movies, software, iCloud storage, printers, cars… everything is becoming a subscription. You can’t buy something once n own it. You pay indefinitely for permission to use it. And we call this progress?
When will this freaking franchise finally realize that their two creampuff bigs will never be the answer. You can get away with one talented creampuff big, but not two starters.
Swisher is such a tiresome bore.
