Robbie Robertson. The polarizing genius of The Band, my favorite music group of all time. One of the greatest songwriters of all time, and a man Dylan described as "the only mathematical guitar genius to not offend my intestinal sense of nervousness." RIP

It's hard to describe the impact of Robbie. The Band was at the forefront of two of the greatest shifts in North American music, including the birth of Americana/country rock, then Dylan going electric. Hugely influential in every sense of the word.

Stop what you're doing and go listen to It Makes No Difference, preferably from The Last Waltz. One of the most heart-shattering love songs in existence, and hauntingly beautiful. youtube.com/watch?v=ZfBqWNFO…

RIP to the greatest living American writer of the last 60 years. Maybe my favorite writer of all time, and certainly my dad's. Absolute literary powerhouse. I'll never forget the first 3 times I tried to read Blood Meridian, and on the fourth time, how amazing it truly was.
BREAKING NEWS: Cormac McCarthy, a preeminent voice in American literature over the better part of the past half-century, died today at his home in Santa Fe, N.M., his publisher, Knopf, confirmed. He was 89. Full obit to follow.

Ontario Place along the water is essentially closed. Add to the list: Eglinton LRT years away still, Queen streetcar closed for 4+ years, St. Clair streetcar busted, no progress enhancing downtown public spaces, etc., and you really see why people absolutely despise this city.
