SPOONS & THE POPPY SAGA.
So this morning Wetherspoons have done a bizarre statement that tries to retrospectively say they were concerned about a local protest. But the video evidence is clear as day. The security / manager specifically said if they remove the poppy they are allowed in. So this isn’t to do with the men, their behaviour nor a protest. This was specifically about the poppy.
We all know Tim Martin (Spoons owner) is a patriot and would not support a poppy ban. We also know spoons nationwide sell the poppy. But someone at this spoons branch in Gosport made a huge error.
I’m told, by a staff member at Gosport spoons, that the manager in question identifies as a they/them and goes by a female name and made derogatory comments towards the men wearing poppies. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Either way I personally think spoons need to come out and apologise on behalf of their branch. Take action against the manager. Maybe as a goodwill rename the pub ‘the poppy’ - that would be a nice gesture wouldn’t it.

Is he saying that on Remembrance Day we are not allowed to wear our poppies in Weatherspoons. Is he serious. It’s been worn to honour our fallen heroes since the end of WW1. I am quite sure Tim will soon put that right.

I’ve just seen the video of the manager at the Gosport Wetherspoons confirming it is company policy. This comes from the top. Tim Martin is denying entry to people wearing poppies. Outrageous. Disgusting.

Great news — the piece of scum filmed spitting on the statue of murdered MP Sir David Amess has been arrested.
Essex Police arrested a man in his 30s in Westcliff on suspicion of a public order offence and criminal damage. He remains in custody.
Days after the fifth anniversary of Sir David’s murder by an ISIS-inspired terrorist, this individual was caught on video deliberately spitting on his memorial on Chalkwell seafront. The family were deeply upset. The public were outraged.
This was not protest. It was pure contempt for a murdered public servant. The arrest is welcome.
