NO BUT MASS RESIGNATIONS, UNDERFUNDED, UNDERSTAFFED IN OUR MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE URGENTLY FIXED & FUNDED. THIS IS A HUGE REASON WHY TRAGEDIES LIKE BONDI WESTFIELD'S AND HELEN HAINES OCCUR 👇👇👇 GROK SAYS- The mass resignation of public health psychiatrists in New South Wales (NSW) occurred in late December 2024, with the resignations officially scheduled to take effect on 21 January 2025. Ultimately, 206 staff specialist psychiatrists submitted their resignations. This represented roughly half of the active public psychiatry workforce in the state, plunging the NSW mental health sector into a historic crisis. The mass exodus was driven by a bitter industrial dispute between the doctors' union, the Australian Salaried Medical Officers' Federation (ASMOF), and the NSW Labor government. The Pay Dispute: Psychiatrists demanded a 25% base pay increase over one year. They argued that NSW psychiatrists were the lowest-paid in Australia, facing a 30% pay gap compared to other states, which made it impossible to recruit new staff. The government countered with an offer of 10.5% over three years, which doctors called "bitterly demoralising". Patient Safety & Burnout: Clinicians testified that chronic understaffing—with nearly a third of all public psychiatry positions sitting vacant—had created dangerous workloads. Many stated they could no longer be complicit in a system that was actively harming patients due to a lack of resources and beds. 1. Immediate System Disruption As the 21 January deadline hit, the public mental health system faced immediate strain. Over 60 public mental health beds were temporarily closed, and hospitals were forced to limit psychiatric assessments, delaying patient discharges and causing severe backlogs in emergency departments. 2. Emergency Interventions and Rehiring "Loophole" To keep the system from completely collapsing, NSW Health established a Mental Health Emergency Operations Centre, set up virtual psychiatry hubs, and heavily relied on expensive temporary locum doctors. Remarkably, by February 2025, about one-third of the psychiatrists who resigned were rehired by the state as independent contractors or Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs). Because they were no longer bound by staff specialist salary caps, these returning psychiatrists were able to secure massive pay bumps, potentially worth tens of thousands of dollars extra, at a much higher cost to taxpayers. Not all 206 doctors walked away permanently at the exact same time; around 25 rescinded their notices and over 80 agreed to defer their resignations to allow the dispute to be arbitrated. The matter was brought before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) for major hearings in mid-March 2025 to determine a structured legal resolution to the pay and safety dispute.

Programmed in Assember(many), Cobol, Fortran, PL/1, 4GLs(multiple), CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering), across multiple operating systems, and many, many file systems and DBMS. Mostly good tech until Microsoft fucked it all up.
Boomers have been adapting to new technology their entire lives. They went from vinyl records to 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs, MP3 players, and now streaming. They went from rotary phones to touch-tone phones, pagers, flip phones, and smartphones. They went from encyclopedias to Google, and now they have AI answering questions they used to spend hours researching. They've watched televisions go from black and white to color, from bulky boxes to flat screens, and from three channels to thousands of streaming options. They've adapted to computers, the internet, email, social media, online banking, video calls, and a thousand other things that didn't exist when they were growing up. So please, stop acting like they're afraid of technology. They're not afraid of technology. They're just exhausted from being asked to create another account, verify their identity, download another app, and remember a password they apparently used three years ago. 😂 At this point, they don't need another technological breakthrough. They need one password that works everywhere and a button that says, "I'm old enough. Just let me in." 😂

Australia can't afford to fund the NDIS adequately? Read this. According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), 28% of large corporate entities (over 1,100 companies with $100 million or more in income) pay zero income tax in Australia. What's your tax rate?

BEWARE THE IDES OF 2030-31 The feds will update their budget forecasts before the end of the year That update will, for the first time, include detailed estimates for 2030-31 That’s the year when the cost of refinancing COVID era cheap debt funding will soar (because much of the borrowing to keep the economy ticking over during COVID was for 10 years) My estimates? · Federal interest costs will be $9bn a yr higher by late 2032 · State costs will also be $9bn a yr higher, reaching that by 2035 Those are big bucks: $18bn a yr is the equivalent of doubling JobSeeker But the actual benefit to the public – ongoing access to the world’s debt markets – isn’t something they understand or value Or, to put that differently, this is money that Australia has to spend, but that our voters won’t see or feel as being of value to them So our political system has to eat a proverbial sandwich … If budget savings are required, then the political equation is simple – lose the least possible seats. In turn, that may simply mean the pain of adjustment falls on widening deficits (and hence future taxpayers – and possibly future productivity too) Would a different outcome be better? Absolutely But you aren’t hearing politicians laying out their plans to address the costs that, like a pig through a python, are working their way ever closer

Liberals are at it again ... PRIVATISATION After Kennett I didn't think Victoria had any assets left @3AW693 With privatisation already emerging in Victoria before Wilson even takes office, the political landscape is drawing immediate comparisons to the Jeff Kennett era. In Victorian political debates, opponents of the Liberal Party have accused Opposition Leader Jess Wilson of pursuing a "privatisation" and "slash and burn" agenda, claiming her policies represent an Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) "dream" or "fever dream" enacted as Coalition policy. Source: @elliemail vicelectionconnections.au/co… The plan by Victorian Opposition Leader Jess Wilson and the Liberal-National Coalition to sell off the government-owned Epping site of the Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market has drawn notable criticism. Critics raise several significant negatives regarding the privatization of this critical state asset. A private, corporate market operator looking to boost its own commercial bottom line could introduce steeper access fees, stricter trading terms, or higher handling commissions. This directly threatens the profit margins of regional Victorian growers, who are already struggling under intense supermarket market power. The wholesale facility serves as a literal structural bottleneck for Victoria's entire fresh food ecosystem, connecting thousands of growers to independent grocers, restaurants, and hospitality businesses across the state. Transferring a natural monopoly into private hands effectively strips the public and the state government of regulatory oversight. If a commercial owner mismanages the logistics, reduces site maintenance, or prioritises redevelopment over agricultural trading, it compromises the state's essential food security infrastructure without any mechanism for democratic intervention.
Jess Wilson reveals how the state Liberal party would raise $600 million for the state budget! MORE 👉 brnw.ch/21x6ywP?utm_source=X
