Small update on XA25: PCBs should be arriving next week. Final assembly will begin immediately after, so things are right on track for orders to start shipping in late Oct. In the meantime, check out @DiamondLobby's XA25 review on Patreon (free vid): patreon.com/DiamondLobby/pos…

Introducing the #8KChallenge for all mouse enthusiasts, reviewers, and brands. 1. Open MouseTester, MousePlotter, or a similar app. 2. Set your mouse to 8000 Hz and 3200+ DPI. 3. Move it in circles for 60 seconds. 4. Check the graph of the time intervals. All points below 0.2 ms = pass. Any above 0.2 ms= fail. Pass or fail, share your screenshot along with your mouse, test app, and OS. All three must work together flawlessly to pass this challenge. Here's ours: the XA25 on Linux, tested with MousePlotter's CLI.

one of our discord members Swape passed the challenge with some Razer wired 8k mice (viper 8k and DA v3 wired):

This is not an easy challenge to pass. We believe that passing it likely requires the combination of - A wired 8k mouse (or a wireless mouse in wired mode) that has cleanly designed firmware. - A USB cable with good signal integrity to avoid dropped packets - A clean linux installation with little background activity or a very stripped-down Windows install. - Disabling various C-states in BIOS settings. - and... patience to move a mouse in circles for a full minute

We're not fans of naming ordinary tech. But this isn't ordinary. @tekkusai and @xbabtech developed SensorLock as an alternative to FrameSync. The synchronization mechanism is different, and the frame-to-USB latency is lower by 163 µs, more than a full cycle at 8 kHz polling.

Ahead of XA25's launch in 28 hrs, we made something pretty cool. Our updated website has a fully interactive AND realistic 3D rendering of an XA25. On your phone, you can even see how an XA25 looks on your desk, next to other mice! Link and info on how we made this below.

Our homepage: xbabtech.com We were inspired by the highly detailed 3d scans of mice on findmymouse.com (@bardozVAL) and on eloshapes.com (@EloShapes). But we don't have a 3d scanner. So this was my workflow, which for the most part worked exceptionally well (aided by the XA25's textured surface): Hardware: - smartphone - phone tripod - cake turntable - diffuse lighting Besides the phone, you can get all of these for about $50 total. 1. I took ~240 photos of an XA25 with my S25 ultra's 5x telephoto camera. Phone was held in a tripod, and the XA25 was rotated on a cake turner. Many different heights, many angles, to capture how the mouse looks from every angle. The mouse was also flipped upside down and onto its sides for many photos. 2. I used MotionCam to take RAW photos with fixed ISO and exposure. These were then processed minimally in RawTherapee to get JPGs. 3. I loaded these JPGs into the photogrammetry software RealityScan (free for individuals and small businesses). 4. In RealityScan, I went through the usual workflow (mask, align, compute mesh, simplify, clean, unwrap, texturize) using mostly stock settings, and export a GLB. 5. With the help of AI agents, the GLB was squeezed down to 2-3 MB (meshopt and webp) and then displayed on our website using <model-viewer>. The end result has some flaws. The white PTFE feet are messed up, and the scroll wheel texture isn't correct. But the textured gray surface was reconstructed insanely well, and even much of the visible underside came out reasonably well, despite the XA25's complex interior. Overall, I'm very happy with the result.
