The thing about Google clearing a forest in Finland without permits is that they decided that whatever fine they might face is worth it. It doesn’t cost them as much as not getting the land cleared.
Because like ALL things, if the punishment is a fine, it isn’t really illegal for rich people.

The convicted 'rate rigging' bankers & 'dishonest' postmasters were all scapegoats to protect their obscenely paid superiors. The regulators complicit too. It will never change.
but are they saying that 'memorize is wrong in british english' or that 'memorise is not wrong in british english' when they say 'not in british english' in response to being corrected?

The ability to disagree without becoming disrespectful is a sign of maturity. If every disagreement feels like a personal attack, perhaps the problem isn’t the disagreement.

Did apartheid South Africa have a right to exist?
Did Rhodesia have a right to exist?
Did the Soviet Union have a right to exist?
Did Nazi Germany have a right to exist?
States don't have rights, Nick. People have rights.
And critically they have the same universal rights. Which is exactly why apartheid Israel has no right to exist.

Let me get this straight, the US told the Europeans to stop buying Russian diesel, started buying Russian diesel itself, and is now selling that diesel to the Europeans at a profit? Europe is embarrassing.
actual cyclists should track this bloke down and have a word
singlehandedly destroying the impression that cyclists are reasonable people just trying to get places rather than on some power trip/content farming/danger increasing rampage and needs to be addressed formally
Oncoming cyclist? Nah, fuck it. What's the worse that could happen? Indicators also appeared to be broken.
I'm guessing the five stars on the front, are out of a hundred?

If billionaires came out and said they were going to hunt us for sport, some of you would defend it by saying:
"You’re just mad because you can’t fucking run fast."
if someone pulls over and lets you past on the motorway/highway, there is an unspoken duty on you to complete the pass before they reach any obstruction and need to pull out again at their present speed without needing to slow😂

The media thinks a billionaire tax is a terrible idea.
The media is owned by billionaires.
Go figure.

Thanks to UK prices the middle class has stopped buying anything
They have a new spending habit:
It’s called ‘don’t spend anything’
Want a new car? Clean the old one
Want a new house? Tidy the old one
They have a new going out habit
It’s called ‘Staying in’
The middle class didn’t get smarter with money, they have just become the new working class & can’t afford anything anymore

Because on paper we couldn’t afford beyond say £320,000, but with help to buy we could “afford” £450k+ (40% London equity loan).
Developers know this and jack up the prices - remember, this scheme is only available for new builds…

I can't get over how stupid it is to commit national suicide and slash all renewable energy investments ***DURING AN OIL CRISIS HE CREATED***. Trump is either a manchurian candidate or he's so stupid and incompetent that he functionally acts like one.
Tens of thousands of jobs have been lost because of the cancellation of electric-vehicle and battery projects under the Trump admin between January 2025 and August 2026.
About $20 billion in EV and battery-related manufacturing investments were scrapped in 2025 alone. Core hubs in the Midwest and South "Battery Belt" have experienced severe economic disruptions because of this.
Workers in places like Lordstown, Ohio and Glendale, Kentucky are suffering because of these cancelled projects. These American communities made long-term municipal investments preparing for thousands of jobs, only for it to be yanked away from them.
While the US is scaling back our EV and battery infrastructure, foreign markets in China and Europe are heavily subsidizing and expanding their domestic supply chains.
So by dismantling these incentives, the Trump admin has put us on a path toward getting absolutely murked by international competitors in the next-gen automobile market.
Not to mention the fact that by abruptly breaking promises and pulling the rug on existing plans, it freezes up billions of dollars... which means Trump has made future investments in the USA far riskier. How does this make America great?
FUN FACT: We are paying more money for worse versions of ALMOST everything because private equity firms buy up beloved brands, cut product quality to the bone, hike prices to squeeze out margins, and leave a trail of debt-ridden husks behind.
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME LIKE I'M A CHILD
Why did tipping start as a way to reward great table service, and now the screen asks for 20% at a self-checkout kiosk, a drive-thru window, and a counter where someone just handed me a bag they didn't even pack?
We didn't ask businesses to pay their staff less and shift the wage onto us. We just kept tapping the screen because it felt rude not to.
And somehow the only thing that got more efficient was how many places found a way to put a tip screen in front of us.
There are people in this country that are paid poverty wages that are topped up by the Government, nearly 50% of which goes to a landlord to live in a former council house, and a good chunk of the rest spent on privatised public utilities.
We have to end the extraction economy.
