Excited to share this discovery: Huntington's disease is a DNA process for almost all of a cell's life. Inherited HD alleles are innocuous, just unstable – CAG repeats slowy expand throughout life, acquiring toxicity only when quite long (>150 CAGs). biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Exciting! Seven awesome new scientist & operations roles in my new hometown of #Seattle #Biotech #TheEcoSystem!

The actions of @aga_naturalgas do not align with the values of @PGE4Me @PatriciaPoppe3. As trusted partners in the transition to healthy homes & buildings, 20 orgs are calling on PG&E leave AGA & stop funding climate obstruction.

7/ I'm not aware of other countries putting in place mandates for hydrogen-ready boilers. Instead they increasingly tend to set end-dates for gas boilers to be installed.

Fossil gas is a dead-end road.
For a long time, gas has been seen as a bridge from coal on the road to net-zero.
Not anymore. A hard-hitting report from the prestigious European Academies of Science @EASACnews makes the case to phase out fossil gas for good.

This is huge: Yesterday the German government confirmed plans to no longer allow stand-alone fossil fuel heating systems to be installed from 01 January 2024.
That’s in all buildings and will come into force in just 8 months.

This is a well-deserved award for one of the best scientists, mentors, and human beings on this planet. From the discovery of immediate early gene induction in cultured cells to how IEGs support learning in the hippocampus— quite a journey!

I asked chatGPT4 which AAV serotypes when administered systemically transduce skin.
The answer seemed very reasonable on the face of it, and maybe it’s accurate.

One of the great pleasures of industry is academic voyeurism (and recruiting) at conferences.
Nearly three years out of @harvardmed — and in @AscidianTx — I couldn’t be happier, or more exited to be headed back to #SfN22!
Exciting day. Ascidian Therapeutics rewrites RNA. Enabling gene therapy to be applied to genes that don’t fit in AAV. prnewswire.com/news-releases…
