Okay, sure, Mississippi is a long shot for Democrats. But doesn’t Trump spending valuable time there just days before the midterms say something about Scott Colom? Would he be going if Colom weren’t giving Republicans a real challenge?
So we’re all thinking Uber is behind this mysterious group running negative ads and phone banking against autonomous vehicles in DC, right?
Why are they so scared of competition??? This is America! Let consumers have options and choices. Wasn’t that Uber’s entire argument to the taxi industry back in the day?
An anti-robotaxi group called the People First Transportation Alliance has become active in DC in recent months.
But exactly who is behind the group remains unclear.

GAS PRICES AND RURAL IMPACT: "Rural voters really are the focus for the democratic party right now. No bigger example of the gas prices debate that we continue to have exists more than rural voters. They drive 40 minutes to work, 20 minutes to church, 30 minutes to get to the grocery store or the doctor. The prices matter most for that demographic. Not just for the midterms. The party can convince rural voters to vote for them now can also convince that demographic to vote for them in 2028." @yemisi

MOBILIZING THE BASE VS. PUBLIC SERVICE: "Where I think she made a misstep is you are talking about a younger generation. Kids coming out of college are layers removed from the Oval Office... I don’t think you should ever dissuade a younger generation from working for public service. I worked in the Senate. I worked in the White House. I think they are great fantastic jobs." @yemisi
"She wants to deter young people from getting involved because, because basically, their lives could be made a living hell by people with power like her seeking more power. That’s the message, very clearly being telegraphed openly, shamelessly there." @guypbenson

Mike Collins is an island unto himself down in Georgia now that Republicans are pulling their money out. So I don’t see how Trump holding rallies in deep red Dalton gets Collins any more voters outside of the ones who were going to vote for him anyway. Easy path for Ossoff. Anyways, wish more people would focus on KLB and the governor’s race now!!

"We've got people that match the district."
Imagine if all the far-left mayors took a delegation trip to SF to learn from Daniel Lurie how to actually tackle public safety and rebuild community trust. They’d be upset to learn they can’t just hand out needles and call it a solution! But I’m confident a little exposure to actual governance would do them some good.

To Yemisi's point, there are over 3,000 pending lawsuits about sexual assault/misconduct against Uber at the moment.
Tbh, one of the biggest reasons I’ve pushed for Waymo in DC is safety, and that includes safety inside the vehicle. And Uber/Lyft aren't rolling out options to request women drivers just because! There have been serious issues with women experiencing harassment and stalking in rideshares. That doesn't mean every driver is dangerous, so don’t even go there. But if someone wants to take one potential risk factor out of getting home safely, why block that option?

Replying to @Janeese4DC
DC must be a leader in welcoming new technology while supporting workers and prioritizing safety.
Let's get this right and not rush Waymo legislation this year.
I’m not even being an alarmist here. Uber was ordered to pay $8.5 million by a jury just this year in a case involving a woman who was sexually assaulted by her driver. And that ain’t the only lawsuit out there!
Yes, I could talk anecdotally about my own weird experiences in Uber all day but the hard numbers of people who have filed against them is enough of an argument. And the fact that the company was slow in its response to the growing concern. It’s their own fault that a lot of women like myself have become anti-rideshare.
It’s just amusing how DC expects tech leaders to fly over to kiss the ring of everyone in this city while we operate like a bunch of Luddites. We want to be a city that attracts innovation, but God forbid we actually allow people to innovate here!
I’m not in the “never take AIPAC money” camp, and I appreciated the opportunity to have a real conversation. If we’re going to scrutinize money in politics, I think we should apply that scrutiny consistently.

Third Way's Yemisi Egbewole: I think it is unfair for AIPAC to hold a heavier weight than other members that get money from crypto, AI, big pharma, oil & gas
If you are in Congress and you have a very deeply Jewish pocket, it would almost be suicidal to not accept any AIPAC money because I think that base would generally turn on you.
Mehdi Hasan: Do you think the 2028 candidate will have to be more pro Palestinian, less pro Israel?
Yemisi: I think the 2028 candidate is going to have to be more conscious of this geopolitical situation than they have been in 2020 or 2016.
