Unwritten producer rules -- all Pre Covid , since everything Is a zoom ---. If the producer picks the restaurant, they pay for the meal. Heat check-- when the bill comes, reach for your wallet. If they raise their hands "Put your wallet away, I've got you," they've got money. If they appreciate you splitting the bill, they're broke. If they want to meet for coffee instead of an office --they usually don't have an office. If they do have an office, on the lot, where do they have you parking? If you drive close to the main building (like Paramount or Sony) and valet takes your car? They're close to the seat of power. If its a huge backlot, like Warners, Universal or Fox, how close do they have you parking to their particular bungalow. If you're parked way in the stacks and their building is a ten minute walk? It's a miracle you'll get green-lit. Also, they'll offer you water. A choice between cold or room temperature? Money. Fiji? Money. Kirkland? Broke.
