more desktop software need to support Photoshop's pan-mode (hold space and drag to move around). like why don't browsers have this? it's ergonomic and neat.

What is this extremely mysterious neuron that set mechinterp going on a dead end for the last 3 years? It's literally </\> kiki ? or bouba o0o
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

pick your L0 carefully
everyone's talking about the missing 045 in OpenAI's math results, but nobody's doing the appropriate schizoanalysis of the catalogue's organization and what the neighboring results imply about which cryptographic assumptions it might break

first experience with opus 5.5: let it review some astra code, it came back with a few concise findings (nice), except two of them were entirely false, which it admitted _very_ quickly when challenged. fable would never…

very cool!
a cool benefit of procedurally generating our canvas material: brush strokes get to pick up the actual texture of the canvas you're drawing on! (look ma, no tiled grain textures)

it's great i can still use the same version of Sketch i've known and loved since 2019. wish we could provide versioned app binaries like that on iOS :(

sometimes the background texture is too heavy, so i added an intensity slider

need an ai to detect when the youtube music mix turns to absolute slop (aka slavic language detector)

what if drawing time lapses were a bit more cinematic?

you shouldn’t have to open a menu to resize/reframe your canvas

it's a shame LLMs were trained on so much slop code (code in languages lacking sum types)
