superinteresting article by @ysabdullahi - on the politics of secessionism and the limits of self-determination claims at the UN
cambridge.org/core/journals/…
The article examines how Rwenzururian activists used the language of the UN to make claims about sovereignty, recognition, and self-determination in postcolonial Africa. It also raises questions of how the UN navigated secession, sovereignty, and statehood in Uganda.
My article on Angie Brooks and her interventions in Namibian decolonisation as well as women’s rights at the United Nations is out with @GSQ_Journal !

My new essay on Kwame Nkrumah’s intervention in the Ogaden question is out now. It explores how his engagement with Somalia and mediation in the Ethio-Somali dispute revealed the limits of Pan-African solidarity.

I’m very happy to see Reinventing Uganda out in print! 👏🏾
My chapter, ‘From Karamoja to Kampala: The (Re)Construction of Somali-Ugandan Communities in 1979–80,’ explores how Somali-Ugandans rebuilt their communities in the wake of regime change after Idi Amin’s fall.
Amid political exclusion and state collapse, they forged new economic pathways, strengthened communal solidarity, and laid the foundations for the influence they hold in Uganda today. 🇺🇬🇸🇴
