The Japan-U.S. Bilateral Joint Exercise “Keen Sword 27” concluded all scheduled activities on the 29th. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the local communities and everyone involved for their understanding and cooperation throughout the exercise. Keen Sword 27 is not directed at any particular country or region, and there is no reason for any country to be concerned. As the security environment surrounding Japan becomes increasingly severe and complex, the exercise is designed to enhance the readiness of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, improve interoperability between Japan and the United States, and strengthen cooperation with participating countries. The exercise contributes not only to the defense of Japan, but also to peace and stability in the region. Countries that share the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability participated from across the Indo-Pacific and Europe, with the number of participating countries reaching an all-time high. In addition to the United States, the Japan Self-Defense Forces will continue to deepen cooperation with Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the Philippines, while actively contributing to regional peace and stability and further broadening international support for these efforts.
