The Cost of Waiting
On the difference between strategic patience and costly hesitation.
There is a tendency in business to treat delaying a decision as a way of preserving options. Sometimes it is. But not always.
Consider a company postponing a financing in anticipation of better market conditions, or a management team holding off on an acquisition until the outlook becomes clearer.
Both may be entirely reasonable decisions. The question is whether the assumptions supporting them remain valid as circumstances change.
Capital has a cost. So does time.
Liquidity changes, competitors respond, investor expectations evolve, and opportunities that once existed on attractive terms may no longer be available.
The difficulty is that these consequences rarely arrive together, or announce themselves as the cost of waiting. They accumulate gradually, often becoming apparent only when management revisits the decision.
I have come to think that one of the more important disciplines in leadership is distinguishing between patience that preserves strategic flexibility and hesitation that quietly diminishes it.
The absence of action does not mean the absence of consequences.

Of course he does. Toxic and Toxina.
Commitment. Even better to make the new one a complete lettuce at start of season 5. 😁
Rory Kinnear's prime minister in Netflix's The Diplomat has resigned midway through the fourth series because Britain having the same leader for four years was deemed too unrealistic.

H.E. Edwin Sifuna like the Roy Kent chant from Ted Lasso. He’s here, He’s there, He’s every-fucking-where! 💥🤌🏾☝🏾

It takes an inordinate amount of wit and charm to best Conan O’Brien in a riff-off. The most an average comedian or host can hope for is not to embarrass themselves trying, which is largely how Kareem Rahma fared in a recent episode of his popular social-media series, Subway Takes. But toward the end of the interview, Rahma and O’Brien were shown up by a stranger named Debbie Shields who just so happened to be commuting on their train.
The 68-year old native New Yorker didn’t know what ‘SubwayTakes’ was, or that she was about to get pulled into a viral improvisational comedy bit. But thanks to a childhood spent performing in church and experience hosting comedy and karaoke nights, she says her instincts kicked in immediately.
This 'SubwayTakes' appearance isn’t even the first time she has been put on the spot by someone with a huge comedy platform.
Shields shares which comedian once pulled her onstage at Barclays Center, how she’s handling her virality, and whether she’d be interested in hosting a show of her own: nymag.visitlink.me/Tr0FRD

Reflecting on the news of the death of an ex-colleague.
I think we in our 40s are in quite unfamiliar territory. We are no longer being called to weddings, baby showers etc
We have also moved from attending our parents' funerals
Now we are burying our own agemates 😕

I’m sorry - should have been clearer.
