Another beautiful to Sir Patrick Steward tribute that I ran across on Reddit If the creator of this would let me know, I am happy to flag it Collection of scenes from Star Trek: The Next Generation I'm not crying, you're crying! Paying tribute to a great actor and a fine human being

Snowballing. In most 4x games you know who won by turn 100, and the next 200 turns are paperwork. I don't think the fix is rubber-banding. Punishing the leader feels cheap. I'd rather the other empires notice you and act like it. Thoughts?

I have been punching up the ship graphics. I always wanted visible turrets.

The one I care about most is the last one: calling off a bad war. The AI runs a war as an operation: scout, stage, commit, invade, hold. If it's going badly, it stops. Tradeoff: you don't always get your big battle. But an AI that fights to the last ship is one you can farm. teapaw.org/zer0sumGames/status/21…

The Star Wars prequels are good for the same reason that Metropolis or Der Ring des Nibelungen are good. The characters are hammy and archetypical because the purpose is to immerse you in a vivid dreamscape of emotions and images. The point is not to be a "well-written" modern story. It's supposed to be more like Greek drama or Kabuki theater. Classic Gesamtkunstwerk of music, design, special effects, combat, romance, acrobatics, etc.

its so funny how the star wars prequels are obviously cinematic masterpieces, but a bunch of chungus gen X nerds who never amounted to anything convinced us they were bad because they didnt make them feel like empire strikes back did when they were 10

So on the same hard drive where I found my StarDrive 2 code, I found my StarDrive ARPG code--and it's sick. I can't believe how far I got here. I really burned out in 2016-17.

These people are deranged. Look at her. Emotional meltdown over a computer program. Whatever you think about AI, it definitely isn't worth whatever trauma this lady is putting herself through.
she’s so tired of generative ai

Starting something new here. Twice a day I'm going to talk 4x design: the problems I've been fighting since 2011, and the calls I made in the 4x I'm building. Tell me where I'm wrong. 4x players always do.

We don't all live in the same timeline. Many still run on obsolete mental models of reality, knowingly or unknowingly. I don't mind those who don't know. But some willingly refuse to update their model, entertaining the delusion that as long as their minds remain on an old version, reality does too. The worst are those who prevent others from updating their models. Usually, their status depend on it.
I live approximately 1 year in the future but I know some people who live 2-5 years in the future. I also know some who live 2-10 years in the past.

Chinese users make up more than 30% of Steam players. I would love for Chinese players to enjoy my games. I am making great efforts to ensure that they can enjoy it with the best experience possible. This is more than translation; there will be some different content

For example, "StarDrive" just doesn't translate, so we're using a new chinese name. I also think Chinese players would like to see some more of their own culture reflected in the Human species; ship names that aren't just American and British, for example.

A good example of the small stuff you'll see in this remaster. Very easy to upscale old graphics for higher rez these days. Lots of sharper 2D work throughout suitable for 4k+
