Iâm telling you now. There is a 100% chance that one of these will happen:
A - Biden drops out
B - Biden picks a new VP (who Dems expect to take over soon after Bidenâs reelection)
Iâve been saying A since â22. Sticking to it. But one or the other? Take it to the bank. đ
GOP primary voters should ask themselves what either of these scenarios does for Trumpâs GE chances. Trumpâs hope for winning is *entirely* premised on the case that Trump was a better president than Biden, and that more people hate Biden than hate Trump. âAt least heâs better Biden.â
If Dems replace Biden with a younger, cognitively intact, more popular candidate (remember that LBJ didnât drop out until March 30), the foundation of Trumpâs campaign crumbles. Suddenly a 78 year old, scandal/indictment-plagued Trump with huge negative ratings and whoâs a lazy campaigner and inept at debating sets up an easy Dem win in November.
A similar dynamic will apply if Biden picks a popular VP. We all know Biden has no prayer of serving a full 2nd term. A popular VP enables voters to rationalize, âSure, Bidenâs pretty bad. But [VP] will quickly take over, and he/sheâs at least better than Trump.â
Thereâs a *reason* why Dems want Trump nominated. The question is whether GOP voters are foolish enough to walk into their trap.
Youâve been warned. â at Oklahoma City, OK

I understand entirely the instinct to teach the House GOP a lesson. But if you punish the Senate GOP, it will be 6 years before they can do anything about it. And we can lose the Republic before then.
On what planet does a 20 year old have any business co-piloting a charter jet? I donât care if theyâre Chuck Yeager incarnate. Shouldnât happen.
According to reporting from the New York Post, the co-pilot of the private learjet that crashed yesterday in Florida has been identified as a 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha. The article stated that Gadelha was aboard a Learjet 60 that departed Austin, Texas, bound for the Bahamas when it entered a steep, high-speed descent and crashed in a residential area of Greenacres in Palm Beach County. All nine people on board were killed.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy also publicly confirmed the nine fatalities.
Flight-tracking data and air-traffic-control recordings show the crew reported icing, turbulence, and precipitation before declaring an emergency.
According to the Post, Gadelhaâs mother, Camila, and her stepfather confirmed to the newspaper that she was the co-pilot. The outlet further reported that she had grown up in Palm Beach County and previously received local media attention.
In October 2023, while a senior at West Boca Raton High School, she earned her private pilotâs license through the School District of Palm Beach Countyâs Aviation Academy before obtaining a driverâs license.
According to CBS12 there was documented evidence that she had accumulated approximately 88 hours of flight time, trained in part with her father, and expressed the goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot.
Later social-media activity and family posts indicated she had progressed to commercial, multi-engine, instrument, and instructor ratings and had flown business jets, including the Learjet 60 type.
At the time of publication, neither the NTSB nor the FAA had released the names of those on board, which is consistent with standard practice in the immediate aftermath of a fatal aviation accident while identification and next-of-kin notification processes continue.

Iâm not sure that I have ever seen a more accurate post on this platform.
So, basically, 500 million Europeans ďżźexpect 300 million Americans to protect them from 120 million Russians who canât even defeat 40 million Ukrainians while those 500 million Europeans donât even realize they are being conquered by 2 billion Muslims who claim they are being persecuted by 8 million Israelis. Is that about right?

All fair points. For all the problems with the GOP, the Democrats are still worse on just about every front - moreover, they are unfixably worse. It's all baked into their ideology, identity, & structure as a party.
While I share my friend John's general dismay with the TOP (Trumpy Old Party), and agree that the R's suck because they sound like D's, some pushback is warranted, e.g.
1) Trump may appoint hacks to the bench but no question his appointees are far, far better than any conceivable D's.
2) Trump talked ending the filibuster, but was basically ignored. As far as I can tell, ending filibuster is now mainstream D policy. This is the path to radicalism.
3) Trump is gone in 2 years, 3 mos. Basically everything he did is reversible. What D's are cooking up is unknown but is perhaps irreversible. We should believe them when they say they want to radically change the system.
