Brought the bred heifers home from grass this morning before it gets any muddier. Guess who’s now staging a protest that they haven’t been added to the grain list? #genpop #CDNlimo

Hey @farmerschneck, @KeithWells6, @Shawridgefarm, @MaizeingPete if you were using a cost of production tool/calc, how would you want to average cost on parts/repairs? Enter every expense for that year, or enter a farm avg? ie oil, filters, etc separate or a $ value ($5000) etc?

Ohhh boyyyy…I’ve got John’s numbers - just curious how others are accounting for it, and if it’s being worked into a per acre CoP or more of a farm/operation overhead/cost-of-doing-business piece.

This year’s Cow-Calf Management Tour is underway! To kick-off the day we started at @CoradFarms where we saw their #limousin herd and learned about their unique farm-to-plate family business.

Was awesome to host the Grenville Cattlemen’s Picnic on Sunday!
Great to visit the Scott Family’s Century Farm with the Grenville Cattlemen’s Association. Local beef producers represent generations of hard work, stewardship, and pride in feeding Canadians while strengthening our rural communities. 🇨🇦 🥩

The most peaceful 2 hours of my week right there. Even have the dog trained to pick her toys up. 🎶
If I had time to mow grass, it truly is a enjoyable job. Ear buds, some good tunes and giver. Trouble is it’s always a panic cuz there’s a 1000 other things to do.

🧯Fire extinguishers 🧯 people, get your damn fire extinguishers checked & on equipment. Especially forage equipment. Also, make sure your equipment & liability insurance is up to snuff. It’s not rocket science people
#ONStorm #ONwx 🔥 Wildfire Risk Increasing Across Southern Ontario with Widespread High to Extreme Danger Expected Thursday Heads up! While we’ve been enjoying a stretch of warm, sunny and dry weather, those same conditions are causing wildfire danger to steadily increase across much of Southern Ontario. Over the past few days, wildfire danger ratings have already climbed into the “high” category in many areas. By Thursday, the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System (CWFIS) is forecasting widespread “extreme” wildfire danger across Southern Ontario. An extreme wildfire danger rating means fires can start very easily, spread rapidly, and become difficult to control. Even a small spark from a campfire, cigarette, ATV, trailer chain dragging on pavement, or outdoor equipment can quickly ignite dry grass and brush. If you’re planning any outdoor burning, be sure to check with your local municipality first. Fire bans and burn restrictions may already be in place, or could be issued as conditions continue to worsen. You can also help reduce the risk by properly extinguishing campfires, avoiding the use of fireworks where permitted, disposing of smoking materials safely, and keeping vehicles off dry grass whenever possible. The good news is that slightly cooler temperatures and the chance of more widespread rainfall this weekend should help lower the wildfire danger, at least temporarily. However, current forecasts suggest next week may trend fairly dry again after the weekend rain, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the wildfire risk climb once more. Stay safe and be extra cautious with any activity that could create a spark. 🔥 - Brennen Source: CWFIS

Our long-awaited best practices white sheet for pesticide application by drone. Detailed enough to be actionable, but not so overly prescriptive that it's obsolete in a week. Hopefully accessible to new applicators and to pros. sprayers101.com/drone_best_p…

Missing soybean cotyledons, commonly seen in no-till after corn. The seedling will survive but be much delayed. Not just caused by snails! Research by PhD Iraj Yagoubian shows they snag on corn residue mixed into seed furrow while emerging. More proof row cleaners are important!

Not as big of recovery as we were hoping for coming out of last summer…
For only the 7th time in recorded history, #Ottawa had less than 129mm of precipitation during a meteorological winter (meteorological winter 2025). #YowWx #OttWeather
