Late night thoughts, The NFT market right now is almost solely based on a attention economy People have stopped looking for creativity, longevity, credible art or community, we have allowed the bare minimum to become okay. The masses search for hype and numbers and chase it till the project that had no foundation other then someone’s follower account and algorithmic reach burn up in flames because longevity was never at the forefront of their design. Founders with reputations built off what came before eye ball the market with precision looking for the perfect moment to extract liquidity when market conditions are perfect then just disappear. Tribalism hasn’t gone away either it just looks different now. Your favorite influencers and KOLs talk positively on the timeline but behind the scenes projects are selectively chosen to be spot lighted or supported because someone’s getting a pay out. People won’t acknowledge or support anything that doesn’t directly benefit them. They don’t actually care about making this space collectively as a whole better, they care about padding their pockets and drawing as much out of it as possible. I champion community, art, and kindness but I am not blind nor will I avert my gaze from these things happening. For almost a year in a row now I have sacrificed my Wednesday afternoons to hold a space called “Campfire Chronicles” a space focused on lifting up others, bringing people together around things of value, NFT art and artists projects because I still believe in this space, I truly believe in supporting artist and people regardless of what follower account they have or what they can do for me, because every person has a story and every story matters, and I am going to keep building until I am certain I’ve made a lasting impact on this place and the people around me.
