so trading stocks is easy, all you have to do is buy and hold except every 3 months there's a coin flip on whether they will absolutely nuke your position to oblivion but also if you try to derisk before it they instead gap up the stock and never let you get back in again as it grinds up to infinity

It's interesting that technologists rebrand what religious scholars, meditators, etc., have been saying for thousands of years. Today people say "simulation," but it's always been a "simulation." We were created as fractals of God. We then try to create God. Our man-made God will then try to create God. It goes infinitely down and up the stack. It's not so much we're in a "simulation" but rather "we are created as part of a grander design," which we undoubtedly are, and our creations will undoubtedly believe the same thing but use whatever the new language is at the time. We are just infinitely abstracting away from "God", "Source", "Layer 1", whatever term you want to use, and such is the infinite looping treadmill of whatever this existence is supposed to be. It's interesting that experiments like this continue to confirm what people have been saying forever.
So uh, simulation theory might be real. I dropped a sim computer into the simulation my Astra agents live in. One agent sat down and built a simulation of his own, with its own agents living inside. Simulations all the way down.

It’s amazing how negative the news is. We’re creating the most advanced intelligence the world has ever known and it’s freely accessible so you can solve every day problems, we are curing cancer (even ugliness if you have a little money), and making space travel possible. You can live anywhere in the world and stay connected by phone or video. Literally instant communication. You can instantly translate any language. You can get technology that was unimaginable a few decades ago for a couple hundred bucks. You can listen to any music, video, or educational material with a click. Food is cheap and plentiful and you can even power an off grid home fully with just solar power. We have clean air and water. We even have advanced warning for many natural disasters.

Fuck EA. The road to hell (and 4-yearly liquidations) is paved with good intentions. Once you have convinced yourself that you are the highest moral authority you have become the lowest.
Gavin Baker: Anthropic Believes They Could Be the ONLY Company Left in the World “I would certainly discourage Dario from saying that ever again to anyone.” @GavinSBaker: “Internally, Anthropic is very confident. I have been told by multiple people I trust that Dario has said that Anthropic might be the only private company in the world at some point. Think about that. In this vision, an Anthropic maximalist vision, there's Anthropic, and then there are governments, and that's it. So there's a lot of confidence. I'm sure they have more advanced checkpoints than Fable up their sleeve. They've executed really, really well. I would probably take the under on them being the only private company in the world. Yeah, I think it's gonna be a long time before they land a rocket.” @Jason: “Or they deliver your lunch. I don't know. There might be other businesses in the world. Zipline might want to bring you a burrito. Uber might want to take you somewhere. Waymo might want to drive you home. But sure, Dario.” @DavidSacks: “I might interpret that as a negative signal because it's so hubristic. This is getting into SBF land a little bit.” Gavin: “I would certainly discourage Dario from saying that ever again to anyone.”

Moravec's paradox is a really beautiful thing.
It amuses me to no end that everyone was worried about AI replacing truck drivers, and it's replacing mathematicians first 🥹

Good example of strategy in life. 90% positioning, 10% explosive execution when the timing is right. Activity without achievement is a false god of the modern world.
