Allen Graves absolutely earned that game ball. Toronto’s 135–92 win was a complete beatdown — 0 lead changes, 0 ties, an 11–0 run and a lead that reached 48 points — and Graves was right in the middle of the defensive tone that made the game so one-sided. In just 19 minutes, he gave Toronto 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal and 0 turnovers. Active hands, rim protection, extra possessions, clean decisions — exactly the kind of rookie performance that jumps off the tape even before you look at the box score. And the college profile says this isn’t random. Graves came in 99th percentile in steals, 82nd in defensive rebounding, 79th on the offensive glass and 71st in blocks among NCAA forwards. Toronto already has plenty of scoring. A rookie who can defend, rebound, create turnovers and play mistake-free basketball has a real path to meaningful minutes. First home opener. First statement game. Game ball in his hands. @TSN_Sports @ESPNNBA @Raptors @allengraves_5 @NBA #WeTheNorth #3PS

This is true. What's important is who is available to play for this particular game.

Game on in Detroit. Jayson Tatum and Cade Cunningham come into this one with remarkably strong percentile profiles, but they don’t get there the same way. Tatum has the edge from deep and on the defensive glass. Cade brings more rim pressure, more blocks and elite playmaking volume. Both are comfortably among the most productive players at their positions. Battle of the franchise stars tonight. Who has the better game? @celtics @DetroitPistons @NBA @espn @TSN_Sports #celtics #pistons

JADEN McDANIELS IS BECOMING MUCH MORE THAN AN ELITE DEFENDER. 🐺 Minnesota's decision to invest another $40 million in @Jmcdaniels7 makes a lot of sense when you look at how his game has developed. His scoring has grown from just 6.8 PPG in 2020–21 to a career-high 15.1 PPG in 2025–26. That's more than double his rookie production, with another significant jump from 12.6 PPG the previous season. And the improvement isn't just about taking more shots. 📊 His 2025–26 percentile profile among NBA forwards: • 90th percentile in blocks • 81st in steals • 76th in scoring • 77th in assists • 70th in PIR • 64th in true shooting His shot distribution is particularly interesting. Of 985 tracked field-goal attempts, 233 came right at the basket, while another 221 came from approximately seven metres. That combination reflects a player who can contribute around the rim while providing perimeter offense. McDaniels isn't simply a defensive specialist waiting for open shots anymore. There are still weaknesses. His defensive rebounding ranks in just the 14th percentile among forwards, while his ball security sits in the 20th. Those are areas where he can improve as his offensive responsibilities grow. But here's the bigger picture: @Timberwolves have secured a versatile defender whose offensive game is steadily expanding. Players who can defend difficult matchups, provide secondary scoring and contribute without dominating possession are extremely valuable alongside established stars. The $40M extension isn't just a reward for what McDaniels has already accomplished. It's a bet that his development will continue. And looking at his career trajectory, that's a reasonable bet. Wolves fans, is McDaniels still underrated? Follow @3PointStats for more NBA analytics, player comparisons and career breakdowns.
Minnesota Timberwolves All-Defense forward Jaden McDaniels has agreed to a one-year, $40 million extension that will keep him under contract through the 2029-30 season, agents Nima Namakian of Innovate Sports and Bill Duffy of WME Basketball tell ESPN.

ANGEL REESE JUST PUT THE WNBA FINALS ON NOTICE. 🔥🏆 30 POINTS. 16 REBOUNDS. 3 ASSISTS. 2 BLOCKS. 1 STEAL. In just 34 minutes, Reese led the Atlanta Dream to a 79–65 victory over Golden State, evening the Finals at 1–1. And there's a lot more to this performance than the box score. Our 2026 analytics reveal just how dominant she's become: 🏀 97th percentile in scoring — averaging a career-high 16.8 PPG, up from 13.6 in her rookie season. 💪 99th percentile in offensive rebounding and 97th in defensive rebounding — giving Atlanta a massive presence on the glass and opportunities for second-chance points. 🛡️ 99th percentile in steals and 86th in blocks — remarkable defensive activity for a forward. 🎯 91st percentile in assists — showing that her contribution extends beyond scoring and rebounding. Her shot-distance chart tells another important story. Of 632 tracked field-goal attempts this season, 527 came within roughly two metres of the basket. Reese does most of her damage inside, where her physicality, positioning and ability to create extra possessions make her particularly difficult to contain. There's still room for improvement. Her season-long shooting efficiency remains below average among WNBA forwards, with a 28th-percentile true shooting mark. But that's what makes her development so interesting: she's already producing at an elite level in several categories without having a fully polished offensive game. From 13.6 to 14.7 to 16.8 points per game across three seasons, the progression is clear. And now she's delivering 30-point, 16-rebound performances on the biggest stage. Atlanta has a superstar capable of changing a series. 📊 Explore the percentile profile, shot distribution and career progression with 3PointStats. Dallas had a decision to make. They chose Moussa Cissé (@moussacisse224) over Dwight Powell. After 12 seasons, Powell is out, while Cissé survives the roster cut despite reports that he was the most likely player to go. And there's a good argument for keeping him. Cissé averaged 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in just 13.9 minutes per game as a rookie. He brings rim protection, rebounding, athleticism and energy. His offensive game still needs work, but there's plenty to develop. Powell, meanwhile, was an exceptionally efficient finisher last season, albeit on very low volume, and offers more experience and offensive versatility. This isn't necessarily about who's better today. It's about what Dallas wants from its frontcourt moving forward. Did the Mavericks make the right call? Cissé's 2025–26 percentile profile below.
Official team announcement from the Mavericks on their release of Dwight Powell to get down to 15 contracts for Opening Night:
