Through work, one develops as a person, provides for family needs, expresses one’s own talent, participates in social life, and builds a better world by collaborating in God’s creative work. The real challenge is to offer everyone opportunities to make the most of their abilities. Unemployment, exploitation, and working conditions that endanger health and life itself are unacceptable (Gaudium et Spes, 67). #GeneralAudience

After quite a bit of thought and deliberation, I've joined @TheGreenParty!
My hesitation has never been about the principles the Greens stand for, but about my belief that real, lasting change must go beyond party politics.
We can't rely solely on short-term election cycles to deliver the fundamental transformation our world needs.
I believe the real power for change lies with people. In building collective civic power. Demonstrating what's possible and creating the public demand and political mandate for a better future.
Politics should respond to that demand, enabling change rather than determining the limits of what's possible.
But here's the thing... the Greens are already calling for so much of the change we desperately need.
I've been increasingly encouraged by @ZackPolanski and the Greens' willingness to challenge the political consensus on Gaza, climate change, inequality and the need to fundamentally rethink our economy.
At a time when so much of politics is driven by short-term electoral calculations, vested interests and political convenience, that matters more than ever.
My conviction that lasting change must be built from the ground up hasn't changed, but neither should that stop me from supporting a party that's already prepared to challenge the status quo.
We need to build the public demand for a better future, and we should recognise those who are already fighting to deliver it.
That's why I've decided to join the Greens! 💚

We won't be discussing poor Lord Montagu though, will we, the actual lone Jew in Cabinet who was horrified by the racist nature of the Balfour's vision.
On this day 109 years ago today British foreign secretary Arthur Balfour sent a letter to Lord Rothschild, a leading member of the UK's Jewish community, expressing the British government's support for the establishment of a Jewish national homeland in Israel.
It laid the foundation for the eventual end of the British Mandate of Palestine and the establishment of the State of Israel.
This article from the declaration's centenary explains how the Labour party already supported its aims months before it was written:

Our challenge of the Palestine Action ban at the Supreme Court will begin shortly - at 10.30AM.
We are arguing that the ban is disproportionate to free speech and the right to protest, so it must be quashed.

More arrests outside today’s Palestine Action Supreme Court case for words exactly the same as the wife of the government’s national security adviser used on X, with no action taken.
I hope the Supreme Court judges are watching this fiasco and taking it into account.

This has made me so happy; I didn't know until today that the father of the newly elected Governor of Georgia is the great soul singer, Major Lance (RIP.) I grew up in the Northern Soul scene where the Major was an absolute hero, his performance at the Torch in Stoke was the stuff of legends. He would be so proud of his dauughter, Keisha, being the first black female governor of Georgia. KEEP THE FAITH!

Kuenssberg was the tip of the spear of BBC's political assassination of Jeremy Corbyn. BBC's 'reputation' for 'impartiality' was comprehensively and terminally trashed by her. Those of us who witnessed it will not forgive or forget.
