Happy to see our work finally finally out🤩🥳🤩🥳
And huge thank you to everyone who supported the project!

Extremely happy to share the first manuscript of the lab! 🥳🥳🥳In this paper, we have looked at the coupling between delamination and differentiation at gastrulation. If you are interested in pluripotency, gastrulation, and mouse embryos keep reading! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

RNAseq is commonly performed. We compared N=30 wild-type Bl6 mice to an N=30 heterozygotic knockout with a phenotype, and then downsized. We found you need at least an N= 8-12 to avoid a >50% false positive rate. A 2nd line confirmed the finding.

📢📢New paper alert! The work of Aly, the first PhD student in my lab is out! We have explored the mechanisms of germline entry in the mouse and identified integrin signaling as a new roadblock of primordial germ cell specification. Keep reading: science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…

How does genomic mosaicism arise during development? We identified that embryo patterning signals not only readour genetic blueprints to build organisms, but they also play a critical role in their maintenance. A quick dive into our new paper nature.com/articles/s41467-0… 1/10

I've come to understand (slowly) that these skills are crucial for climbing the career ladder, but I still hold hope that academia will embrace a more diverse definitions of "success" -though I am concerned what 'evolutional process' of the current academic system may result in..

One of my graduate students dropped by my office, exasperated, and said, "I don't know how to innovate. So, how can I do a PhD?".
I erased my whiteboard and began listing strategies for generating new research ideas. They left reassured and excited!
As #professors, we mentor and make knowledge accessible to empower our students. I hope this is helpful to others! #academicchatter #Phdlife #Highered
