Point 66 gets to the EU’s main aim in its protectionist policies: the EU wants the UK to help protect the EU’s steel industries with a quota system under the WTO GATT process. This ‘reciprocal’ arrangement has two massive holes. 1. The UK hardly makes any steel any more. It is down to just 2 blast furnaces, and they are only still operating because of massive government subsidies, while the EU has 47 blast furnaces and hundreds of Electric Arc Furnace steelworks which run on much cheaper industrial electricity than the UK’s. So agreeing to Point 66 would simply result in the final death of UK steelmaking. 2. The EU has defied the WTO CODEX rules and has ignored a myriad of complaints to the WTO after the EU lowered its pesticide Maximum Residue Levels, and its banning of certain food ingredients and packaging materials without any scientific evidence to back up its changes. The EU is happy to cherry-pick which WTO rules it wants to obey and which it wants to ignore, but now the EU wants to use the WTO to block Chinese EV and steel imports while the EU is simultaneously defying the WTO CODEX rules and blocking imports of fruit, vegetables, and cereals from other countries. I should point out that if the UK is silly enough to let the EU make its SPS rules, the UK will also be defying WTO CODEX rules. However, the UK would still have a steel industry and would not fear being undercut by Chinese steel if it had encouraged investment in new steel plant and equipment rather than making steel production uneconomic through short-sighted carbon taxes, bans on coking coal extraction, and high industrial electricity prices making EAFs uneconomic in the UK. The fact that we’re even having this conversation is proof that the UK needs to further cut itself off from the EU

Just another day in Khan's shìthole London.
How depressing that it’s impossible to have anything nice anymore. Canaletto’s painting this morning by the canal in London, covered in red spray paint applied by someone devoid of talent, brains and culture.

In other words, the UK would sacrifice its £28B Agtech sector to prioritise its food and live animal exports to the EU, which amounted to £12B in 2025. For the sake of British innovation, we very much hope this isn't the case.
What is now being briefed on the UK-EU SPS agreement is that the UK didn't achieve any carve outs on gene editing. The EU merely agreed the UK could transition towards the EU's more restrictive approach to gene editing which is due to be implemented in July 2028.

As obvious to many people from day 1. But apparently not to @POTUS.
Everything we are doing is going to have to be defended, to actual voters, in midterms elections just 9 months away.

The only problem with that is; A) it is legally impotent, and; B) The NI Secretary Bryant is a rabid EU sychophant who loves the notion of full legal subordination to it.
20
EU sycophants must only ever stick to laughable economic counterfactuals because they know and have always known that the ugly central tenet of total legal subordination, whereby voters lose any democratic agency over the laws they have to live under, goes down like cold sick.

The EU just signed a deal forcing Australian farmers to feed their cows Bovaer. To save the climate. Meanwhile calves are dying in Denmark. But at least the agreement is signed. 🐄☠️
🇦🇺 The EU trade agreement signed by PM Albanese mandates that Australian beef and dairy farmers feed their livestock Bovaer (3-NOP), a synthetic feed additive designed to reduce emissions. Leaving the poison NOPA in milk, meat and nature! Killing calves in Denmark This requirement will be legally binding and fully enforceable under EU🇪🇺 NOPA-NoFFF.com (find us on Facebook)

Labour has fallen for the two dumbest Remoaner myths. Soaring immigration and a decrepit economy have nothing to do with Brexit. They have everything to do with weak politicians who are terrified of UK sovereignty, says Patrick West buff.ly/QDCOWyR

Convicted criminal Christine Lagarde finally leaves the European Central Bank, having presided over the most aggressive monetary expansion in the eurozone's history, leaving Europeans poorer because of it. From 2019 to 2022, the ECB under Lagarde expanded its balance sheet past eight trillion euros, buying sovereign debt from Rome and Athens to prop up governments that Brussels lacked the political courage to discipline. The ECB engaged in deficit monetization at a previously unprecedented scale. When inflation hit 10.6 percent across the eurozone in 2022, Lagarde dismissed it as "transitory," a word that cost ordinary Europeans two years of real wage erosion. She then overcorrected, hiking rates from negative territory to four percent by 2023, crushing small and medium businesses across southern Europe that had borrowed cheaply and suddenly faced refinancing cliffs. The ECB's whiplash gave them the worst of both worlds: inflation from loose money, then the credit crunch from tightening. The fundamental error preceded Lagarde, but she accelerated the demise. Negative interest rates under her watch punished savers and misallocated capital into zombie firms that productivity data exposed as nearly worthless. Her legacy is a generation of Europeans poorer in real terms than their parents, holding euros that buy less, and an institution more politically captured than the one she inherited.

"But water is essential for the functioning of the human body", they shouted to the drowning man from the shore.
The audience on BBCQT is packed full of brainwashed, uneducated leftists. It's so obvious this is deliberate. Why do they keep doing it?

Is this a joke? The EU wants the UK to put tariffs on Chinese EVs and Steel in the Reset agreement using WTO GATT rules, but it also wants the UK to dynamically align with its's SPS rules which are against the WTO's CODEX rules. Talk about cherry-picking! catherinemcbride.substack.co…
No cherry-picking. No special treatment. The door is open. This time, it’s meant for coming in, not walking out. There is so much to do together to face global challenges🇪🇺🇬🇧 #Brexit

"I work for Ukraine, for the entire Ukrainian people".🤡 And this is what Zelensky is telling us right now, at the very moment when NABU is revealing allegations that top officials from SBU, the National Police, and the Prosecutor General’s Office — appointed under Zelensky himself — were beating Ukrainians with hammers, dousing them with acid, and running drug trafficking and other criminal enterprises alongside Russian citizen and alleged drug kingpin Yegor Burkin, aka “The Mexican.” Meanwhile, other members of Zelensky’s inner circle — including Mindich, Yermak, and Chernyshov — are accused of looting Ukraine’s energy and defense sectors, with some making off abroad with their ill-gotten fortunes. And all this while Zelensky’s press gangs are hunting down working-class men across the country and shipping them off to the front lines to kill and be killed in what critics describe as NATO’s proxy war against Russia. Ah, yes. Public service, Zelensky-style: the people supply the blood, the cronies collect the cash, and the President delivers another inspirational speech about sacrifice. Preferably someone else’s. Mr. President, perhaps the greatest service you could still render to the Ukrainian people would be to do it from behind bars. Preferably for life. At least then, for once, the state would be paying for your accommodation instead of the Ukrainian people paying for your entourage’s appetites.
Zelensky: My children are not my priority right now, but in the future, my family will be my priority. I work for Ukraine, for the entire Ukrainian people.

Please provide us your workings for the cost of compliance to every single business in the UK to the thousands of regulations, directives and decisions adopted by the EU every single year at the annual average of over 5,000. Go ahead.
Businesses face a £7.7 billion Brexit bill to trade with the EU. It’s time to join the Single Market and Customs Union, tear down pointless barriers and get British businesses trading seamlessly across Europe again. @LibDems independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Meaningless nonsense and putting the British at a disadvantage whilst pouring their taxes down the drain. That is what sums up the mob of Labour Party idiots in government.
Proud to announce that students in England will be able to study Ukrainian at GCSE. It’s a chance for pupils to explore Ukraine’s rich culture and history and, for the Ukrainian community to remain connected to their heritage. This is another step in our enduring support for Ukraine as part of the 100 Year Partnership 🇺🇦🇬🇧
