Ahh, GenX is an amazing generation. GenX instilled their hopeful optimism to their children and grandchildren very well. I think they were drunk when they taught us the differences between “Jesus, take the wheel” moments and their endearing sarcasm/cynicism 🤭
Consumer confidence is rapidly declining in the US.
The 6-month average of the Consumer Confidence Index for Generation X is down to ~78 points, the lowest in at least 5 years.
At the same time, this metric for Baby Boomers is down to ~80 points, the lowest since at least September 2021.
By comparison, readings for both age groups stood at ~110 points in October 2021, or ~40% higher.
Meanwhile, the Silent Generation's Consumer Confidence Index has fallen in 5 months of 2026, to ~81 points, the lowest in at least 5 years.
The gauge remains above 100 points only for Generation Z and Millennials, but even those readings are still below their 2021-2023 levels.
Consumer confidence remains well below post-pandemic highs across every generation.
