It’s the ‘ALWAYS’ that really gets me. Following current trajectories Villa WILL inevitably surpass united in size #avfc
🚨Jamie Carragher: “I am happy Unai Emery is staying at Aston Villa but Manchester United will ALWAYS be a bigger club”
“United ECLIPSE Villa: honours won, fanbase size, financial power, history, global status. In that head-to-head, it’s not even close. It did not strike me as controversial to suggest that when a club of United’s size wants Aston Villa’s managers or players, traditionally they get them.”

Unai Emery's programme notes: "Let me disagree with the concept we have been reading – mainly from afar – that we have lost our 'spine'. No. We have changed some players. But the spine of this football club is our culture, from the board to the stands, the demands and high standards in our organisation, the sense of belonging of a huge fanbase and the overall rational management."

Never refused to play and never kicked up a fuss despite being a scapegoat for far too many. A quality servant to the club, go well Leon. #Avfc
Aston Villa can confirm that Leon Bailey has completed a permanent transfer to Olympiacos.
Since joining the club in 2021, Leon has been a key part of our recent journey and he leaves the club having played his part in Villa winning the UEFA Europa League last term.
He joined from Bayer Leverkusen and went on to make 163 appearances in claret and blue, scoring 23 goals and registering 25 assists. His sparkling 2023/24 campaign, in which he netted 14 times, helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
An exciting winger, capable of both scoring and assisting, Leon was a popular figure among his teammates and around the training ground with his exuberant personality, and he leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.
