My precious daughter was diagnosed in Nov, 2025 with brain cancer. She's had many complications already. Any gift, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Her needs are outlined in the campaign. If all you can offer is prayer, we appreciate that so much. Please pray for Kelly. givesendgo.com/standwithkellโฆ

"Every few months, a young 19-year-old woman from South Carolina boards a plane to London. She isnโt going sightseeing. Sheโs going to get her next dose of a cancer treatment that was invented in the United States, developed by an American company, and credited by her doctors with clearing a brain tumor other surgeons had refused to touch.
She was diagnosed with glioblastoma at 16. It is the most common and most lethal brain cancer, the disease that killed John McCain and Beau Biden. Her tumor came back so aggressively after her first surgery that doctors stopped operating. This was a death sentence."

This is my family.
My husband, our three kids, and me.
I'm 46 years old.
I have stage 4 breast cancer.
In December 2023, I had my first scan and was told I had stage 1 breast cancer.
Then I got a second opinion.
In January 2024, I learned it was actually stage 4.
Terminal.
Five years to live.
My youngest had just turned one.
Not exactly how I expected life to go.
It's been almost three years since that conversation.
A lot has happened since then.
A lot of treatments.
A lot of scans.
A lot of things I never thought I'd have to learn about.
My husband has spent countless hours researching cancer, treatments, clinical trials, and anything else that might help me.
He's done more for me than I could ever fit into one post.
We've both spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to keep me alive.
And now, after almost three years of treatment, my cancer is progressing.
We're looking for what's next.
Right now, I'm trying to get access to a treatment called ANKTIVA.
I'm hoping ANKTIVA will be my next miracle.
Because five years was never going to be enough for me.
And somehow, in between all of that, we're still raising three kids.
We homeschool. There's laundry, dinner, kids' activities, and a house that never stays clean.
We plan vacations. We talk about the future. We try to keep life as normal as possible.
All while trying to figure out how to make sure I'm here for it.
I've thought about sharing our story for a while.
The treatments.
The research.
The things we've learned.
What's worked. What hasn't.
And what it's actually like to be told you have five years to live when you have three kids you want to watch grow up.
So here I am.

SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS GROCERY EXECUTIVES, BUT IโM DONE.
I just pulled a $4.99 box of cereal off the shelf, brought it to the register, and watched the scanner ring it up as $7.49.
When I told the cashier, she said: "Oh, thatโs the digital coupon price. You have to download our store app, create an account, search for the item, and clip the digital coupon before scanning."
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
You inflated the shelf price by 50%, locked the normal price behind an app, and forced me to hand over my personal phone data and email just to pay the actual retail value of a box of food?

The Phase III INTerpath-001 results circulating today reported a recurrence-free survival hazard ratio of 0.58 for Modernaโs personalized mRNA vaccine plus pembrolizumab versus postoperative pembrolizumab alone. [1]
The comparator matters.
SWOG S1801 had already demonstrated improved outcomes in resectable stage IIIโIV melanoma by moving three pembrolizumab doses before surgery, while keeping the same planned total number of doses. No manufactured vaccine was added. Treatment timing changed. [2]
Modernaโs trial did not compare its vaccine regimen against that neoadjuvant strategy. For patients eligible for preoperative immunotherapy, its additional benefit over that approach remains untested.

The initial recurrent-glioblastoma study reported median survival of 13.7 months with preoperative pembrolizumab versus 7.5 months with postoperative treatment. A subsequent neoadjuvant expansion cohort reported 6.8 months and did not confirm the initial survival advantage. [3]
Earlier checkpoint blockade alone had not reliably reproduced the benefit.
UCLAโs combination study investigated pembrolizumab alongside ATL-DC, its personalized tumor-lysate dendritic-cell vaccine, and poly-ICLC immune stimulation.
In the IDH-wildtype subgroup reported at EANO 2026, patients receiving pembrolizumab before surgery and alongside vaccination had median overall survival of 271 days, approximately 8.9 months.
Patients completing vaccination before pembrolizumab had median overall survival of 555 days, approximately 18.2 months. [4]

The groups contained 19 and 16 patients, respectively. The reported hazard ratio was 0.32, with p<0.0006. These conference findings came from an amended trial; both groups received dendritic-cell vaccination and checkpoint blockade. [4]
Northwest is also a co-proprietor of granted European patent EP3065772B1, whose claim 6 specifies glioma-lysate dendritic-cell vaccination before a PD-1 inhibitor. [11]

An Immunity paper states it directly:
โSuccessful anti-PD-1 cancer immunotherapy requires T cell-dendritic cell crosstalk involving the cytokines IFN-ฮณ and IL-12.โ
Garris and colleagues showed that removing dendritic cells, neutralizing IL-12, or disrupting dendritic-cell sensing of interferon gamma prevented effective anti-PD-1 tumor control in their mouse experiments. The drug remained present. Its required cellular partnership had been disrupted. [5]
Activated T cells release interferon gamma. Responsive dendritic cells produce IL-12. IL-12 reinforces the responding T cells.
The instructor supports the effector, and the effector signals back to sustain the instructor. The conversation continues inside the tumor, beyond initial priming.
In human tumor-derived T cells, adding IL-12 to receptor stimulation increased interferon-gamma production in five of six patientsโ samples. In mice, combining checkpoint blockade with dendritic-cell activation produced tumor rejection and protection against subsequent tumor challenge. [5]
The baton is passed through a working feedback loop, with a route to immunological memory.

Type-1 polarization concerns the capacity to coordinate antigen presentation, costimulation and bioactive IL-12p70 production following appropriate activation.
The target identifies what to recognize. Costimulation supports activation. Cytokine instruction helps determine the response that follows.
Kalinski and Mailliardโs ฮฑDC1 research deliberately engineered mature antigen-presenting cells that respond to lymph-node homing signals while retaining IL-12p70-producing capacity. [6]
Carrenoโs research tested the distinction directly. Investigators retained the peptide target while changing dendritic-cell activation. In laboratory experiments, the revised signals restored deficient IL-12p70 production and improved antigen-specific T-cell expansion. [7]

Modernaโs vaccine supplies instructions for making selected tumor antigens. Its benefit depends on the patientโs antigen-presenting machinery converting that information into effective immunity.
Its protocol started pembrolizumab at randomization and added the vaccine when available. INTerpath-001 did not compare vaccine-first priming with checkpoint-first treatment. [1]
UCLAโs results make that a concrete research question. Garris explains why the functional partnership deserves at least as much attention as the schedule.

DCVax-L is Northwestโs commercially developed treatment within UCLAโs tumor-lysate dendritic-cell research lineage. It supplies personalized tumor material loaded into prepared antigen-presenting cells. [8]
Northwestโs exclusive Kalinski licenses bring specific DC applications and upgrades into its portfolio, including technologies intended to enhance DC function and condition the tumor environment. The maturation research identifies the functional properties to preserve: effective antigen presentation coupled to appropriate type-1 instruction. [6,9]
Eden addresses delivery at scale. Northwest reported that its automated Flaskworks development process produced DCVax-L with substantially comparable biological characteristics, cell function and dose yield to its manual process. The system is intended to expand manufacturing capacity while preserving the properties of the living-cell product. [10]
The process can become more standardized while the tumor material remains patient-specific.

A personalized vaccine must help establish, direct and sustain the cellular response that checkpoint blockade needs.
DCVax-L makes the antigen-presenting cell part of the treatment. The case for developing combinations around that foundation is supported by the mechanism, the clinical sequencing signal and a manufacturing strategy designed to preserve living-cell function at scale.

Breaking: Moderna shares plunged 25% after details of its breakthrough mRNA-based cancer vaccine were shared on social media on.wsj.com/4ic0d0i
My husband, @skippysboss, and I never had a first date. We were just really good friends. He asked me to marry him, and we got married 2 1/2 weeks later. In December, we will be married 39 years. He's still my best friend. So maybe, technically our wedding was our first date๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
Regarding my daughter, Kelly, and the cancer ( I hate calling it "her" cancer๐ช), her husband, Jake, has given an update:
UPDATE! - From Jake 10-19-2026
After battling through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy for the past year, and supplementing with integrative oncologists treatments, Kellyโs cancer has refused to let go. This tumor is stubborn and has held on and grown. Previously she was experiencing almost no symptoms and could function normally all things considered. On Saturday, September 19, Kelly experienced a sudden burst of symptoms; her balance and coordination suddenly deteriorated, her speech became slurred and labored and her thoughts became harder and harder to gather and project to others. And, just like that, everything in our world changedโฆ..again. We were managing well up until then. This new normal is more difficult than the last but weโre adjusting.
Weโre now seeking alternative treatments and seeking second opinions. This includes travel and lodging out of state, and possibly out of the country. This takes time and money. Kelly is the tech person in our family, I build things. Kellyย ran our household and took care of all the research and emails with speed and precision. Kelly took care of our boys, making breakfast lunch and dinner, took the boys to school and play dates. She can no longer perform those tasks for the time being. Because I am the one responsible for doing these things, I have been off work since 9/19.
We are very appreciative to everyone who has already supported us, and we are reaching out once again for help from those we love; to help take care of our family while we find the next step in Kellyโs treatment. Please join us as we fund whatever treatment the Lord tells us to pursue, and pray with us as we continue to believe God for a miracle, knowing that He will be glorified in all things.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Jake
I'm not asking you to give, and that is certainly not my goal for giving you all the update, I know that I have people praying for us and would like an update, but if you are so inclined, there is a givesendgo link in my bio.
Also, on a personal note, we have a very dear friend who has bought 1st class airline tickets for my husband and myself to go see Kelly in NY next month. Besides the generosity of course, the reason it is such a big deal is because for 4 years I have had severe chronic pain and have been unable to travel. But the first class accommodations, and only because of God, my chronic pain has let up enough for me to fly๐ญ I'm going to get to go see my baby๐ญ
My youngest daughter, Codie, arrived there today for a week. Kelly introduced her neighbor to Codie as a friend who lives in another state that she hasn't even seen in years. Also, a few days ago, Kelly called me and asked me a question similar to this, What animal do you think of when you think of an aspirin?" ๐ค๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Our visit is going to be hard. Please, keep my family in your prayers.
