A Venezuelan billionaire wanted a presidential pardon. His daughter hired Trump’s former personal lawyer, Alina Habba, to a deal worth more than $50 million over four years.
Small problem, Habba was still a Justice Department official.
She began working for the company on January 1. 14 days later, Trump pardoned that billionaire.
Habba denies having any role in securing the pardon. The White House and DOJ say she was not involved in the clemency decision. Nobody is stupid enough to believe that.
This company was newly formed, its business was unclear, and the financial arrangement was extraordinary.
Now add the $3.5 million in MAGA Inc. donations from the billionaire’s daughter, plus the separate dispute involving Habba’s new husband and his long-time friend Ric Grenell over a $17.6 million Congo-linked transfer.
A $50 million deal. A presidential pardon 14 days later. Millions in political donations. And a separate fight over $17.6 million.
That’s taking grifts to the next level.
I would be shocked if it were not a Florida man.

OREGON SCHOOL SHOOTER’S MOTHER SHOULD FACE CHARGES
Shauntai May Nickerson (43) is the mother of the 16-year-old suspected of killing three children and a teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.
Nickerson also has a reported arrest history, including two fourth-degree assault arrests, a DUI arrest, and a reckless-burning arrest.
But what concerns me most isn’t her past. It’s the shotgun reportedly purchased by Nickerson that ended up in her teenage son’s hands.
Four innocent people are dead.
I believe that if investigators establish she knowingly or negligently allowed her son access to that weapon in violation of the law, she should be prosecuted and face prison time.
At some point, we have to start asking serious questions about parental accountability when children get access to firearms and use them to commit mass murder.
Her son’s actions were his own. But that doesn’t mean investigators should stop asking how he obtained the gun.
