ALT Header reads, “Tuesday Tip.” Subheader reads, “Make your documents accessible. Body reads, “It can feel a little daunting to create documents that are accessible to everyone, but there’s two things you should do in everything you write. 1. Use formatting tags, like headers, lists, and paragraph/body rather than just creating visual distinctions yourself. These metadata tags are vital for screen readers and other software to understand the document, and they can make the document easier to outline and scan. 2. Create alt text for every image, figure, and chart that describes what’s going on, and be sure to make decorative images so people don’t have to worry that they missed something important.” The image to the right of the text show a page of a print book with the word “Bold” in bold font centered on the page. The Acadicus Communications logo is in the lower left corner.

ALT Header reads: Carl Sagan Day. Body text reads: Carl Sagan was an amazing science communicator because he knew how to meet his audience where they were. He found creative ways to make outer space or the distant past real and alive to contemporary audiences. Below the text is a photo of a middle-aged white man in business causal attire in front of a model of the solar system. He is gesturing with his hands as he speaks. In the bottom left corner is the Acadicus Communications logo.

ALT Header reads: Tuesday Tip. Subheader reads: Make a map to your audience. Body text reads: Sometimes, instead of building an outline in a traditional way, I’ll draw a map. I’ll write my ultimate goal for the audience, the main thing I want them to understand, then I’ll imagine where my audience is right now in relationship to that end point. What do they know? What do they believe? Then, I’ll create the main points for my text out of the stepping stones I need to get my audience to take from where they are to where I’d like them to be. Graphic shows a digital painting of a small spaceship traveling along a dotted line between two planets. The dotted line connects several planets until it arrives at a large X on the final planet. In the bottom left corner is the Acadicus Communications logo.

ALT A photo of an “I voted” sticker stuck on a person’s finger against a white and blue background. Header text reads, “Tuesday Tip.” Subheader text reads, “Make a plan to vote.” Body text reads, “State and federal elections are coming up on November 8, so it’s time to make your voting plan. I like to start by double-checking the early voting period in my state and figuring out exactly when I’ll visit my polling place. After that, I’ll use a resource like Ballotpedia to see exactly what will be on my ballot and learn a little more about the candidates and questions I need to make choices about. I often take a cheat sheet with me to my polling place!” The Acadicus Communications logo is in the bottom left corner.
