Six years ago today, my mom was told she might have six months left to live. #Research saved her life. There is #hope. I want this same result for every #cancer patient on Earth. #lcsm #hcsm #oncoalert #medtwitter #advocacy #cancersm #clincialtrials #lungcancer #love #caregiving

I just joined 🦋 as well. It would be great to get more #LCSM folks on there!
There is a growing #LCSM group over at 🦋. The more set up accounts there the easier it is to reproduce the type of network we had here once. It still exists here but smaller, so many have been turned off another option may be good? I think some apps (Buffer) let you cross-post.

Amazing! 1,000 people have enrolled in the @23andMe Lung Cancer Genetics Study. Why am I so excited about this Study? For the first time, the entire lung cancer community is rallying behind a single, comprehensive research effort. Individually, we can make a difference, but together, we can DO more, BE more, and IMPACT more! Here is the link to the study if you are interested: 23andme.com/lung-cancer/. Please share if you know someone who may be interested. #LCSM
Exciting news! 🎉 In just six short weeks, 1000 people living with #LungCancer have joined our research initiative! Help us find other people who may be interested by sharing this study today: 23andme.com/lung-cancer/ #WCLC24

CanNOT overstate the life changing role of palliative care - but it continues to be underutilized. Thank you @lpetrillz for dispelling the myths and emphasizing the need of early intervention! #WCLC24

When you see advocates wearing #makecancerlessshitty t-shirts and pins around #WCLC24, THIS is why ⬇️ We talk a lot about cutting-edge treatment and potential cures, but we don't talk enough about HELPING PEOPLE LIVE BETTER! We see and hear the research and clinical data & about case studies, but what about IMPACT - what does it all mean in the context of a person's life? THAT is the information that is important and meaningful to patients/families, and oncology professionals when discussing treatment options. @CancerSuckLess #LCSM
In the thoughtful discussion of this morning’s two HER2 presentations, @jillfeldman4 makes an appearance. Drug tolerability is relative! #WCLC24

Communication isn’t something doctors learn in school, and their degree doesn't depend on it, BUT….. It is at the heart of patient-centered care! Just as research and treatments advance, the way we talk about it needs to as well. Using patient friendly language to communicate science empowers patients & families to participate in SDM. Thank you @JNJInnovMed for recognizing and addressing the communication gap! #WCLC24 #LCSM
Forever grateful for this dynamo, @jillfeldman4, who identifies a need and finds a way to meet it, in this case creating a patient-friendly lexicon to make scientific research accessible to all

“I have seen men survive diseases that women do not because of the care that women caregivers provide to their male partner when they are sick-I have only seen that happen once or twice for a female patient being taken care of by a man when she is sick.” My jaw is on the floor.

My 38 year old brother in law (with 2 kids under 10) is sitting in a great hospital @OchsnerHealth but is requiring transfer to @UCSDHealth for pulmonary artery endarterectomy. @BCBS New Mexico is road blocking (taking forever to approve) the transfer to a higher level of care despite one of the best hospitals in state of Louisiana saying he needs to go. @UCSDHealth has been excellent and has a bed and can hopefully save his life. Come on @BCBSAssociation PLEASE MOVE FASTER or there won’t be a patient to transfer.

While not the point of @MaryBoulanger4 study "Patient and caregiver experience with the hope & prognostic uncertainty of immunotherapy," I cannot get past the fact that MORE people stopped immunotherapy based on TOXICITY than because it stopped working 🤯 #ASCO24 #SuppOnc

This! When researchers work w/patient advocates early in their career & listen to what's impt to pts/families! We often ask/require pt advocate inclusion, but there's no guidance. How do we create more opportunities for these important interactions? @ASCO @AACR @IASLC @ASCOTECAG
You made me reflect about using PROs in early phase clinical trials! I educated myself more about this, & included it as an aim in my protocol. I’m really grateful for this! See you soon!
