Anyone who has camped in serious rain knows how miserable it can be, especially when your attempts to keep the rain out fail. All you want is to feel dry again. When itās cold itās exponentially worse. When youāre with your kids, you feel awful for them as they shiver. Now imagine the tent is your forced home, the water keeps rising, and thereās nowhere to go to get dry or warm.
I admit that I completely broke down today. I cried uncontrollably. I couldnāt hold myself together after witnessing what I saw with my own eyes.
Today, we went to film a journalistic report inside the displacement tents along the seashore. I swear, what we witnessed was beyond what any human being should have to endure.
I saw men crying bitterly. Men I had never seen cry when they lost their children or when their homes were destroyed. Today, I saw them crying because they were powerless to do the simplest thing: protect their children from the water and the cold.
We spoke to families who told us they had spent the entire night carrying their children in their arms after floodwater covered the floors of their tents and soaked their mattresses. They couldnāt find a single dry place to put their children. They couldnāt even give them a few hours of sleep.
I saw children no older than five, without proper clothes to protect them from the cold, without heating, and without a dry place to sleep. Children shivering inside tents that cannot keep out the rain, protect them from the wind, or provide even the most basic sense of safety.
What more must happen for this world to act? How much more suffering must people endure before someone remembers that they are human beings?
I am sick of this world. I am sick of its hypocrisy and empty slogans. To hell with a world that talks endlessly about human rights while leaving children to drown inside their tents. To hell with everyone who has witnessed this suffering and chosen silence, and to hell with the governments and institutions that have the power to act but continue to turn their backs on us.

Ben, meanwhile, spent his uni days climbing the greasy pole of the debating society. While president, he invited Marine Le Pen of the radically antisemitic National Front to speak. Weren't so concerned about promoting Jewish students' safety then, were you, Ben?

Hi Ben, this is a truly disgusting (and cowardly) tweet. So glad I have spent the past year turning down your repeated invites to appear on your show.

But since you canāt engage with the substance of any of this, you resort to smear by insinuation.

Israel killed eight people including a child in Gaza this weekend as they continue their genocide.
After a weekend of arresting pensioners for protesting against this horror, Labour has today collapsed local agreements putting Israel far above serving our local communities.

A major investigation has uncovered an Israel-linked, three-year disinformation operation designed to spread Islamophobia, anti-migrant hatred and far-right conspiracy theories across more than 30 countries.
The operation spent £6.12 million generating 800 million advertising exposures across social media platforms.
The UK was among the worst-affected countries, with 154.1 million exposures, followed by France (120.6 million), the US (99.7 million), Italy (76.2 million) and Germany (34.3 million).
These campaigns include claiming that there's an Islamic invasion and Muslim countries are buying European buildings and converting them into mosques.
In the UK, 61% of comments sampled on targeted Facebook adverts expressed support for Islamophobic views.
Think about that. Millions spent deliberately exploiting prejudice, spreading conspiracy theories and turning Muslims into scapegoats and to dehumanise them.
The Nazi regime also ran a massive, state-sponsored propaganda and disinformation campaign.

Tom was carrying a Palestinian child out of range of Israeli army gunfire when he was shot in the head.

In 2015, the UK introduced the 5p charge for plastic carrier bags. Minimum wage was £6.70 an hour, meaning you could buy 134 bags with an hour's work.
Fast forward to 2026. Minimum wage has increased to £12.71, but carrier bags now cost around 40p each.
That same hour of work now gets you just 31 bags.
So the price of carrier bags has gone up 700%, while wages have only increased by 89%.
If minimum wage had kept up with the price of plastic bags, we'd now be earning £53.60 an hour.
Even plastic carrier bags are outperforming wages in this country.
We're getting robbed.

šØ UPDATE: The hypocrisy gets even worse.
"Sir" David Bell, the very man behind the government's antisemitism in schools report, was accused of Islamophobia back in 2005 for singling out Muslim faith schools.
As the then head of Ofsted, he warned that religious segregation could threaten social cohesion and questioned whether Muslim schools were adequately preparing children to respect other cultures.
Fast-forward 21 years...
We're now discussing a Jewish school's published commitment to preparing pupils to become "positive advocates for Israel", while Bell's new report goes far beyond political impartiality, proposing measures to silence legitimate criticism of Israel, presenting genocide as a matter of competing political perspectives, and sanitising the actions of the Israeli state under the guise of tackling antisemitism.
If Muslim schools teaching a particular worldview raised concerns about social cohesion, why shouldn't schools explicitly preparing children to advocate for the State of Israel face the same scrutiny?
Especially when Israel are carrying out a genocide in Gaza!!
This isn't about Jewish or Muslim children. It's about the political indoctrination of ANY child, and the equally dangerous prospect of using education as a vehicle for state propaganda, suppressing legitimate criticism and sanitising atrocities.
It has absolutely NO place in our children's education, no matter which religion, ideology or state it seeks to serve.
If this is seriously where we're at, we may as well stop calling it the Department of Education, and call it what it is: the Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.

I'm not going to name the school, but the @BBC's coverage of the antisemitism in schools report featured interviews with children from a Jewish school.
Here's the rub, though.
The school's own published curriculum explicitly teaches Zionism, celebrates the establishment of Israel and describes preparing pupils to become "positive advocates for Israel" at university.
It even references bringing in organisations such as StandWithUs to prepare pupils for that advocacy.
Now, let me be absolutely clear. There is nothing wrong with teaching Jewish history, culture or identity. And antisemitism must be challenged wherever it exists.
But when children are actively encouraged to advocate for a particular state, rather than critically examine its history, policies and actions, surely we have to question whether this is education or ideological conditioning?
And here's the staggering hypocrisy.
We're being told that schools must exercise political impartiality when discussing Palestine, while a school can openly describe preparing children to advocate for Israel.
Political impartiality cannot be a principle applied selectively, depending on which side of a conflict children are encouraged to support.
And the BBC has a responsibility to scrutinise that distinction, not simply present children's views without examining the educational environment in which those views have developed.
Children deserve an education that teaches them how to think, not what to think.
