I am writing these words from Switzerland, but my heart and mind are with my loved ones in Gaza. 💔 For the past few days, I have been receiving heartbreaking messages from my family in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip. They tell me that food has become almost impossible to find, and that they can no longer find even vegetables, something that used to be one of the most basic necessities of everyday life. I am not talking about what I see in the news. I am sharing what I hear directly from my own family, who are living through this suffering right now. At the same time, reports from Gaza describe a severe decline in food aid, disruptions to food distribution, and increasing difficulties in bringing in vegetables, fruits, and other essential supplies. As food supplies continue to shrink, fears are growing that hundreds of thousands of people could once again face hunger. What breaks my heart the most is that the people of Gaza have not even had a chance to catch their breath after everything they have endured. And now, once again, they are afraid they may not be able to find enough food to feed their children. How many times must people live with the fear of hunger? How many times must they beg for the most basic human right — the right to food? I am terrified that these warnings will turn into another humanitarian catastrophe while the rest of the world continues with life as if nothing is happening. The people of Gaza do not need pity. They need safe and continuous access to food and humanitarian aid. They deserve a life where finding a loaf of bread is not a daily struggle for survival. Hunger should never become a normal part of anyone's life. 💔🇵🇸
