H.E. @MeneWamkele, Secretary-General, paid a courtesy call on H.E. @JohnAKufuor, former President of the Republic of Ghana and former Chairperson of the @_AfricanUnion, at his residence in #Accra.
The discussions covered #AfCFTA implementation, intra-African trade and industrialisation. The Secretary-General briefed former President Kufuor on ongoing implementation efforts, while the former President reaffirmed his support for African integration and the transformative potential of the #AfCFTA.

H.E. @MeneWamkele, Secretary-General, met with Dr @JoyKategekwa , Director of the Regional Integration Coordination Office at the African Development Bank Group (@AfDB_Group ), to discuss ongoing cooperation in support of the #AfCFTA.
The discussions focused on regional integration, private sector development, regional value chains and opportunities to strengthen support to Member States.
The meeting also reviewed progress under the Bank’s support to the Secretariat and priorities for the next phase of cooperation, reaffirming a shared commitment to Africa’s industrialisation, competitiveness and economic transformation.

Organised in collaboration with Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA), with support from @jica_direct_en , the four-day pilot workshop focuses on government capabilities, national experiences and regional cooperation to support secure cross-border digital trade.

As protectionism grows and supply chains face disruption, deeper African integration matters more than ever.
At Africa Day 2026 in Vienna, held under the theme “Africa Means Business”, H.E. @MeneWamkele highlighted the #AfCFTA’s role in expanding intra-African trade, strengthening regional value chains and attracting investment that supports production and jobs.
The official mission, undertaken at the invitation of Austria’s Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, H.E. @BMeinl, also included engagements with the Federal Minister and other dignitaries, a meeting with @UNIDO Deputy Secretary-General Mr Ciyong Zou and discussions with the Africa Group of Ambassadors.
At the @BKFVienna Forum, the Secretary-General delivered a further keynote on the #AfCFTA as a driver of trade, production and employment.

A single African market delivers results when African businesses can trade, invest and build partnerships across borders. The private sector is central to making the opportunities of the AfCFTA commercially meaningful.
Mr Rui, Chief of Staff of the #AfCFTA Secretariat, represented H.E. @MeneWamkele Mene, Secretary-General, at the Africa Business Forum & Gala Dinner 2026.
He highlighted the need for predictable trade rules, stronger regional supplier networks and fewer barriers to market access, encouraging businesses to explore new African markets and use #AfCFTA arrangements where eligible.
Held on 17 October 2026 in Accra under the theme “Advancing Intra-African Trade and Sustainable Business Growth”, the event aimed to recognise businesses and individuals contributing to Africa’s economic development and employment, celebrate leadership and innovation across sectors, and encourage connections that support sustainable business growth.
