this is a much better red state Dem approach to trans politics than Turek's--it doesn't concede the conservative premises, even if it doesn't also assent to a transsexual ontology of sex and gender. It foregrounds decency and pluralism, which are liberal values.
#KansasSenate Adam Hamilton on transgender rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself.” “I’m gonna love the trans person as well as the straight person, male or female. We have to do better than picking on small groups. What’s happened is we’ve turned a group of people into a campaign issue because it polls well.”

National Tight Ends Day isn't even a real holiday. the NFL adapted it from a pagan fullback festival held each year at the time of the fall equinox

I need to start keeping a running thread of hardcore right wingers who adamantly insist they’re “not right wing.” The complete absence of self-awareness is fascinating I mean, who’s to say what the politics of someone whose following list looks like this are? 🧐

New addition didn’t even come from a political discussion. Just a dude blathering about how a woman should present herself, and that’s a pretty spot on vibe for this list

Another gem. Not only is HE not far right wing, there’s *no such thing*

What doctors is this guy listening to? I’ve overwhelmingly seen doctors say it was appropriately managed. I’ve seen a minority say “I might have done things slightly differently but we need more info”
It’s so weird how every doctor thinks the Jalen Hurts situation was handled poorly besides the ones employed by the Eagles or the NFL.

Announcers really pretending Philly fans are booing Harden because he didn’t win enough and not because of how he acted at the end of his time with the Sixers 🤦🏻‍♂️

“SBC” 🤦🏻‍♂️ Idk man, if you don’t know anything about this topic, maybe listen to people who do instead of going off vibes about what “of course” happens in your nonexistent medical experience
The SBC diagnosis should've been a full stop. Period. Of course, it would move after playing and traveling.

Ah, finally a day off after working 14 straight. Maybe I’ll finally get to do some reading. Let me just check Twitter really quickl—[spends the rest of the day arguing with people about various forms of venous thrombosis]

Takes like this are driving me insane 1. Ignoring the difference between SVT and DVT 2. You’re not supposed to avoid activity!!! Literally the opposite

So THIS part makes no sense. Like, at all. Telling people not to sleep is not part of SVT management
Jalen Hurts was in the hospital the night before the Eagles game in London and did not sleep, per doctors orders. He was in the hospital in the middle of the night and played through all of that. All they knew at that time was that he had a superficial small blood clot.

I’m wondering if maybe there was a miscommunication, like someone saying to avoid staying still for a long time and that being interpreted as including sleep. Actually directly telling someone with SVT not to sleep would be insane. We don’t do that even for DVT/PE

Ok this part makes zero sense and now I do question why he played after seeing this part of the report. That much sleep deprivation can have a similar effect to being drunk in terms of awareness and neuromuscular control. There’s nothing inherently dangerous about sleeping while having a superficial clot. Immobility (venous stasis) can cause clots to get worse, but that’s why you are often advised to just sleep with the leg elevated. I’ve NEVER heard of someone being told to avoid sleep after a superficial blood clot diagnosis and the short term effect of that sleep deprivation is a terrible thing to play football with.
Jalen Hurts reportedly went roughly 36 hours without sleep after doctors diagnosed him with a superficial blood clot in London and advised him not to sleep as a precaution. He still started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD. (@TomPelissero)

This person blocked me after I asked this, and I’ve gotta think that there’s a reason she said “as someone with a medical degree,” and not “as a doctor” or “as a physician”

Watching a whole lot of my Eagles timeline have a whole lot of very strong opinions about a medical condition they’d never heard of until today 🫠 Superficial venous thrombosis is not DVT. It’s much lower risk and usually doesn’t require specific treatment. It’s also generally…

…not a reason to restrict physical activity, or a contraindication to flying (which is kind of oversold as a DVT risk to begin with). Just need basic precautions like periodically getting up to move around, etc. They CAN sometimes move, sometimes to higher risk locations…

…Based on everything that’s come out so far, there’s nothing to suggest the medical staff handled it inappropriately. They appropriately monitored it while it was low risk, which is how they found out about it moving. All in line with standard of care
