Alberta’s Pacific Link pipeline is officially a project of national interest. This means the permitting process is fast tracked and we can reach our goal to get final construction permits approved by September of next year!
One million barrels a day from Alberta to the west coast, and from there to the Asia Pacific and beyond. This means greater energy sovereignty for Canada and a better price for every barrel that leaves this province.
That is more than $20 billion a year added to Canada's economy and up to 140,000 jobs in Alberta, British Columbia and across the country.
Here is what it means at your kitchen table. Stronger paycheques. Tens of billions in new revenue for the hospitals, schools and roads Albertans use every day.
A significant milestone for Alberta's energy future.
Pacific Link will strengthen market access for Canadian energy, create jobs, attract investment and help reinforce Canada's role as a secure and reliable global energy supplier.

Companies that produce more than 40 per cent of Canada's oil have now told Ottawa they are prepared to commit large volumes to the West Coast pipeline. That is a serious signal of confidence from our energy industry.
Alberta holds one of the largest and most secure energy reserves in the world and we are ready to deliver for decades to come. This pipeline would carry up to one million barrels a day from Bruderheim to tidewater, supporting jobs on the rigs, in the field, and in every community that depends on this industry.
My thanks to EPAC for adding their voice and to Minister Brian Jean @BrianJeanAB for his continued work on this file. Alberta will keep working with the federal government and with our private sector and Indigenous partners to see this pipeline built.
The Explorers and Producers Association of Canada has pledged support and committed volumes for the proposed west coast oil pipeline as the federal government reviews the submission. EPAC's 80+ members produce more than 40% of Canada's oil. Read more: shorturl.at/bTMuO

Another major milestone in our plan to double Alberta’s oil production.
Today, Alberta, Canada, and the Oil Sands Alliance (Alberta’s 5 largest oil producers) signed a landmark agreement that clears the way for tens of billions in investment in new oilsands production and CCS projects as well as tens of thousands of jobs.
We made a commitment to get Alberta building again, remove barriers to investment, and double our energy production. Today is another major step toward delivering on that promise.
Alberta's government has delivered a submission to the Major Projects Office requesting the west coast oil pipeline project be listed as a Project of National Interest. The submission outlines details, including the proposed corridor and benefits to Canada alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=9…

This meeting builds upon the collaborative nation-building work we started earlier this year with the signing of a memorandum of understanding to work toward developing an end-to-end critical-minerals supply chain in Western Canada.
Alberta is home to potentially the third-largest lithium reserves in the world and many other critical minerals, including titanium and vanadium.
We are also well-positioned to become a leading critical-mineral-refining jurisdiction in the Alberta industrial heartland near Fort Saskatchewan.

Today our government took a monumental step in getting a pipeline built to Canada’s west coast.
We have made Ottawa agree to decrease the industrial carbon tax from $170/ tonne of CO2 starting in 2030 to $130 by 2040, but we have also received assurances for a fast-tracked pipeline approval processes that could see construction start at the end of 2027.
We still have work to do.
We continue to engage with Indigenous communities as well as industry, and we continue to work towards an agreement on the Pathways Project, a key element of getting a pipeline built.
What is certain is demand for Alberta’s oil has never been higher on the global stage. We have an opportunity to get our oil to the world, strengthen energy security for Canada and our trading partners, and bolster our economy for decades to come.
