Visiting the parental units in Deltona, Florida tomorrow to spend some days with them and celebrate Mom's birthday. Bringing some DVDs from the public library to watch with Dad who hasn't gone out to the movies since my sister passed away 5 years ago.
Final screenings for ANA, EN PASSANT today at 2:30 p.m. and for MARIE MADELEINE at 5:30 p.m. (Marie Madeleine's is on STANDBY which means all advance tickets are sold and that lines open as early as one hour prior to showtime & tickets will be sold on first come-first serve.)
My @chifilmfest coverage for @ThirdCoastRvw continues with two films centered on the Afro-Latin American experience: Fernanda Salgado's ANA, EN PASSANT and Gessica Geneus' MARIE MADELEINE, both screening today for the first time:

this, to me, is Digger's fatal flaw--the central conceit only makes sense if the play is actually good, but the mainstream success of good art is not something AGI can conceptualize
with NYFF over I caught on some of the fall movies i didn’t have time to write up. 5k words, 5 reviews! why i *hated* Digger and The Social Reckoning, thought Primetime was richer than ppl said, quite liked Other Mommy and quite loved History of Concrete api.omarshehata.me/substack-…

My coverage of the 62nd @chifilmfest continues, this time for @ThirdCoastRvw with a capsule review of the low-key Mexican comedy EVERYTHING ELSE IS NOISE which pokes fun at one of my favorite subjects: patronizing (mostly men) Latin American intellectuals.

Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. 🦇
So, hear me out hear me out...Justice League by Steven Soderbergh written and shot in the style of his Ocean 11-12-13 films.
Steven Soderbergh is coming on to help finish principal photography the final weeks of DC Studios’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman Part II.’
The news comes after production was paused on the film so that Reeves could attend to a family matter.

First full day of screenings at the Chicago International Film Festival; I have a couple of recommendations, with more to follow via @ThirdCoastRvw.
My latest contribution to @cinelandiaUSA highlights two films from, when it comes to Latin American cinema, one of the best kept secrets that should no longer secret: the emergence of Costa Rica as a. cinematic powerhouse. Screening at @chifilmfest:
